    OFFICIAL Election Day Thread.

Well it's past 12 here in the central time zone and that means it's election day!!! To keep the other threads to a minimum, it would be nice to keep all election day conversation in this thread. I do plan on updating it ALL day especially as we start seeing returns coming in. Of course political discussion/debate is welcomed (A little bit of cheering for your candidate is ok too) but flamming/name calling/bashing WILL NOT be tolerated. I have spoken with Steve about this, and any and all who participate in such activity WILL BE REPORTED. Lets keep intelligent conversation in this thread. As for my personal predections on the election, I really think it is too close to call. I have looked at numerous polls (from MANY different sources) and they are all a dead heat and well within the margin of error.

i'm not going to be able to vote, because i'd have to drive about 4 or 5 hours just for my one little vote (which i know matters, lol). plus, i have a class to attend during that timeframe - which is also important to me.

i'm undecided anyways. i was leaning towards bush, who i agreed with on some topics. but then again, i've read up on kerry and his proposals, etc. - and some of them also appeal to me. so i wouldn't be extremely disappointed with either candidate taking the win, personally.

The fate of this country's next four years lies in the hands of one of two men...This country has never been more divided on the topic of who will be the next president in our history. Although, vast efforts have been made by MTV, Michael Moore, and muscians to vote against Bush; the reality of things is that most voters are seniors and not young people. The poll indicators are virtually worthless in my humble opinion. The true fate will be decided tommorow night.

I am a registered republican, and I agree with their ideals. I always thought politics were stupid when I was young and not educated, than I realized through reading how important it truly is. I do not always agree with Bush's ideals, but I do believe he is a man of conviction and will stand by his word. I am not so sure if we could all say the same about John Kerry.

I just hope people realize this election, including most of the campaigning from both parties has been dispecable. Kerry and Bush have both used propaganda to gain their voters submission. It makes me down right sick thinking about all the FEAR they have BOTH made to instill in us young people. I only pray that after 4 years someone new will come along and clean up the mess.

Neither candidate has any of those states. Polls show that they are literally tied.

i voted already... fox5 news was at my polling place.. lol... i saw them from the top of the hill and i was like... i gotta get my car on tv to rep cb7...(well... not the best of cb7.. but you get what i'm saying..) so i drove around the camera and parked on the side street rather than in the small parking lot... i think they even video taped me crossing the street.. it was a live feed so i don't think they'll be showing it again though...

i can see why when people see cameras, they stand behind the news reporter and act stupid... the wonders of television lol

                    :edit:

when you go to vote, go early so you don't have to wait in line..

i have a feeling this election will be somewhat similar to 2000. where this time a candidate (whether it be bush or kerry) will complain about the absentee ballots being lost in the mail and what not

Overall, I tend to think that neither candidate has done much to appeal to me. There are a lot of things going on in this world that I disagree with, however, I do think this election has been a little too one track (war on terror). There are a lot of issues that have been affecting my family personally (healthcare, etc) that have been put on the back burner. That being said I know who I cast my vote for, and I do stand behind my reasoning, for both personal and political reasons.

However, I have run across many stories and things in the media that have really bothered me. My local paper printed a story that more or less was like your vote doesn't matter because you live in a Democratic state. I mean that's all well and good, but its like hey, you live in a country based on the ideals of everyone has a say, but because of where you live, your vote doesn't matter. That really peeved me against voting in general. I want my vote to matter.

Also, I read an article bashing the whole "choose or lose" thing MTV has. It was an anti-Democratic article that basically was saying how MTV is pro-Kerry and that they're pushing uninformed voters towards him. Saying that if you are 18-24 and watch MTV you don't deserve to vote and you're going to screw up the election. What surprised me tho, was that where I found this article was not on a political website, it was on the MSN main page from when I logged online at work. I didn't see anywhere that it was an editorial, and it was just written as MTV has effects on voters. I was shocked and rather angry. I almost wrote a letter protesting.

So basically I'm going to conclude this with I know who I am planning on voting for. I do respect people's opinions as far as the other candidate, but I just cannot bring myself to sit here and let all these shenanigans in the world continue.

I voted at 6 on the dot today to avoid the rush. I just cant wait till 2008 when we get a real president (hopefully).

Get out there and vote, people! Exercise your right as an American! Shape the future of America!

If nothing else, get out there and vote to counteract someone else's vote.

Good luck to all candidates, and hopefully there won't be another 2000 Florida debacle.

Well I'm glad to see we have so many here that are voting this year. Remember we not only have the presidential race, but many senate seats are up for grabs and that is just as important as the presedential race.

AccordWarrior - I definately think it matters that you vote regardless of which party your state follows. For exp. I had to cast an absentee ballot for TN (my home) even though it is a red state, if you refuse to go to the polls because you think it won't matter that is totally false. If democracts haven't come out in record numbers in states like New Mexico, it would have never become a swing state. It would have just stayed red. I definately think it matters. Also, as I said above, you still have the senate races and voting on local issues and that is very important as well.

                              My reasons for supporting Kerry:
                              1. Is much more in touch with the minority community and no only listens to us but also talks to us. I've heard Kerry personally campaigning hip hop stations i listen to not to mention the NAACP conventions he's spoken at. How can the president help/understand/sympathize with me and my ppl if he won't even talk to us?
                              2. My father hasn't had a steady job for a long time. He's retired from the navy and has been struggling for awhile. I've had to help out a couple of times to keep the lights and water on at the age of about 17...ever had to do that? He's been working here there at minimum wage and has had 3 jobs at once. He's a little over 40, i'm 21 and i make more money than him. Times have only gotten worse for my family. I had to dropout of college and I can only attend a community college at most right now because of this financial problem. I'm being yelled at by many because they and I know i don't belong here, i could help out the world alot better if i was able to finish my education. I don't think i stand a chance with Bush and his views running the country.
                              3. I know i messed up but i have alot potential. I would need affirmative action to help me out.
                              4. I think we need to fight the wars going on here more than the wars going on there. How can we help others if we can barely help ourselves? I'm not saying i'm against the war but it seems like we'll be there forever. Why do we have to be the "World's Police?"
