For those who actually saw Joeys car in person you would’ve noticed he constructed a Special Thanks Plaque and placed it in his Engine Bay. It had special thanks to the people that helped with the build as yes CB7Tuner was included on this list, but I guess people overlooked it and formulated their own negative opinion of him. As chris stated he still a good guy and was far from Cocky.. The guy helped with the Function Form Group Buy and got people to think out of the box with his build..

The initial beef was that he didn't say something in the article. I may be partially guilty for starting that, because I think I made a friendly comment about "what, no thanks to cb7tuner?"... and people took it too far.

It's HIS car. HIS accomplishment. He had no obligation to thank us.
I didn't know about the plaque myself. That's cool that he had that.

not to mention the carbon fiber trunk group buy... hes solely responsible for our chassis having carbon fiber trunks at all. all the ones that were made after were reproductions of the original.

Is your trunklid a knockoff, Chris?

Yeah, that is very true. Joey is deeply rooted in the scene. People say "that's because he's in Cali, where it all happens"... and yeah, that's partially true... but why is that? Because people like him MAKE it happen.

I got caught up in it. I have since apologized, and as far as I know, Joey and I are on good terms.

What do you mean beating it like a dead horse? If you're referring to my participation in this discussion... that's simply all I'm doing... participating in a discussion. You're actually the one that dug back in this thread and continued from that point. Before your post, the discussion had progressed to knockoff parts vs. authentic (albeit overpriced) parts.

                Excellent.

Though a knockoff trunklid wouldn't be shameful... seeing as there are about 7 of the real ones left in the world.

That's the ONLY time I can support replica parts... when the originals aren't made anymore. The originals are still exclusive, because they are indeed original... but if they aren't made anymore, then it's nice for someone to provide those options again.

yeah i agree completely... not that the ones after were a replica... they were just produced by a different company. i am proud to have one of the few perfect fitting originals tho.

Yeah. I shelled out like 400 clams for one that had the mounting holes in the wrong place. I sold/traded it to excalibur02 shortly after. Hopefully he can make it work! Aside from that, it fit VERY well (well, with some careful modification to the fiberglass...)

With the trunk springs removed, and the thing not bolted down, it lookd just as perfect as yours. It also blended perfectly with my paint, so it was only obvious that it was carbon fiber when you looked closely. I'm all about subtlety.

yeah thats awesome. if i remember correctly cf1 sold the original mold to vis, they just didnt get the bolt hole scenario figured out correctly... lol and yes subtelty is the key... clean subtle cars never go out of style.

Yes I realize both of you have been and continue to be on good terms with one another, just stating it sucked when the bs initially started and to see that you were one of the individuals. Sorry to put you on blast you can ban me, but just stating the obvious. I understand that your the site admin so you have every right to be mad when the site wasnt mentioned, but as I said it’s glad to see you support a fellow individual that had love for the cb chassis.

Sorry DEEV my post is late, and off topic from the fake parts discussion but im not on the site 24-7, and actually saw this thread when it first started but didn’t say anything because its been years since the debate, hence why I used the dead horse analogy, Sorry I chimed in but just stating obvious facts about the Special thanks Plaque, something everyone overlooked..

If that plaque existed at the time of the article, it was overlooked at that point as well though...

Honestly, in retrospect, I recall another member stirring up trouble. I won't mention that member's name, since it's in the past... but that particular member was acting as Joey's "pointman" in a way. He was constantly attacking people that weren't rocking hardons 24/7 for that car. He was the one saying "if you don't like Joey's car, your'e stupid"... and a lot of his words got attributed to Joey himself. Even though he was never asked to take the offensive, and was not acting as a legitimate representative of the man himself.

And it's not really a dead horse. Yes, it's an issue that was laid to rest years ago (and sadly, Joey hasn't frequented this forum much since... ) In this case though, it's a matter of a whole new crop of people wondering why this amazing car is basically a ghost on this site. Why what is possibly the best and most entertaining and informative import tuning blog on the internet is so removed from this site (when it really isn't... we'll always have that connection.) And what the history of this whole situation is.

It just takes a man to admit when he's wrong so don't take this to the heart Deevs. I do see where your coming from about the new crop, and agree his blog is the most entertaining and imformative import tuning blogs around.

When you're told that somone else's car is the best, and your car sucks because it's not like his... you begin to dislike that car. Then you begin to dislike that person.

Joey WAS a total dick on here at the end. I could dig up his deleted MR thread and post exactly what he said. But, it wasn't totally unjustified. People were being unfair to him first.

However, that unnamed member started with the "Joey's car is the best, and yours sucks... you suck if you don't agree!" crap.
The sad thing is, that member had a TOTALLY different car himself, and it was among one of the better looking cars on this forum as well.

And yeah, I was wrong. I let that one member get under my skin, I got caught up in the "mob mentality" for a short time. You're right, as the owner of this forum (and I was at the time), I took it more personally than others that my forum wasn't acknowledged. Part of me saw it as a victory for the CB7 community in general that Joey got featured. To me, the CB7 community consisted of this site. To me, anyone serious about the CB7 was a member here. I still find myself thinking that way from time to time (though I know there are serious enthusiasts that aren't on here, for lack of interest, or because they think we suck... ) I got over that quickly, though... Then I saw Joey's dickish remarks, and I once again started to dislike him. That's when I decided to talk to him on AIM and get to know him a bit. At that point, I realized where he was coming from. He told me about the Camry, and showed me pictures. Once I knew who he was, and how things happened... I gained a lot of respect for him. That respect continues as I see his increased involvement in the import scene.
