    Skating

Be it roller skate(quads), Rollerblade, skateboard, or snowboard/skii.

Anyone here skate in any way?

I recently started skating with my daughter. Pretty often at a local roller rink. I'm also into roller derby now(referee in training)

I can quad/blade skate and skate/snowboard. Never skiied yet.

Favorite skating lines for talking shit
"I'll go burn a hole in your floor."
"I'll skate all over your face dweeb!"

Skate board. I used to go out and skate everyday but after enrolling in college and getting a full time job I hardly ever skate anymore.

*fixed the "G" key does not work so well

Been skateboarding since I was 8. I'm 25 now and probably won't give it up until I can't anymore. Minus the constant bs injuries it's actually a really good work out.

I hear everyone about the time issues these day. I'm pretty much on the go 24/7 it seems.

I do get to skate a good bit but thats because I require virtually no sleep. The only thing my ADD(attention defecit disorder) is good for! I get in bed at 10pm, usually asleep by midnight, sometimes not till 1 am.... get up at 5am. Work is from 6a-2:30p. Go pickup my kid, take a shower do some cleaning around the house and then go to Derby practice tue/thur7:30-9:30p Skate @ the rink for open skate on Wed7:30-9:30. If the 2nd job permits me I also go on Fri/Sat 7:30-10:30.

Shitty part now though is @ the 2nd job we had a dishwasher quit so I work a double on fri/sat, and a single shift on sunday. Friday is hell, I'm literally working ALL day. Starts at 6am as the last day of the week for the rubber company thankfully but begins the 3 day haul of dishes. It usually ends up being a total of 17 hours of work in a 24 hour period. 4pm-1:30 am is the usual double. If I'm scheduled on Fri/Sat doubles I still try to take her to the family skate sesion on Sat from 1-3pm before I gotta go get stressed out at work cause most those clowns there are lazy pieces of shit.

My wife doesn't really like our skating addiction though. I bought my kid some doh-doh's for her quads so she could actually make the trucks turn The stock one in there are a little soft for me, but she couldn't make them flex at all in 185, shes 75 heh. Then some good wheels. She was skating 96A(62x42), I dropped that down to 84A(atom poisons) and increased the width on her wheels width from 42-44mm. Soo much grip they wear her legs out, thats ok though shes strong this'll help build her strength up so she outruns the boys .

The other day we were at Derby practice, so I get her to do some of the drills with us while shes there(save for hitting and scrimmages). We did a push/pull drill where we have 3 skaters holding onto each other. 1 pushes/pulls while the other 2 coast.
                C=coaster S = skater

Our configurations were C-S-C / C-C-S /S-C-C i forget tue duration of the drill, I think it was for 2 minuites then we switched skaters until everyone had gone, then switch sequence.

In each configurations we did she ended up lapping 2 of the 4 groups of adult skaters. I was pretty impressed myself but the best thing was watching the expression on the team's faces as she hauled ass pulling 2 skaters weighing 2.5x her own body weight.

I got numerous scars on my knees and shins from boarding- nose/tail slides gone horribly wrong, and a scar along my right radius on my wrist from snowboarding. Tabletops can be bad if your going WAY too fast.

                  This.

I own an oldschool Nash skateboard. I've never ridden it.
I went ice skating once with a group of friends. One of those friends was a blind girl. I stuck to her, and hugged the wall... until she decided that she was tired of hugging the wall, and she wanted to skate for real. The blind girl pulled me onto the ice. Guess which one was the better skater...

Used to skate (board) from age 8-23. Had a 1/2 pipe in the back yard, 1/4 pipe in the driveway and a launch ramp out in front of the house. Same happened with me, work and travel got in the way.

Still skate (ice hockey) on a weekly basis if not twice a week. I've been on hockey skates since I was able to stand.... In the winter time it was pond/river hockey for 1-2 hours every day after school and for at least 5 ours on weekends. We had a pond that was a 5 minute walk and the river was only a 10 minute walk from my house.

Deev, skating is a inertia thing really, you gotta feel it.(not the fall though! ) Its really no fun if you can't skate well, I'll give ya that. When my kid first started she liked it, then I started teaching her how to get good and she kinda hated it cause it was hard to do what I did by instinct. Well now that shes stuck with it and gotten skilled and faster than 80% of the skaters there its all we do when the rink is open. Something about weaving in/out of crowds going forwards/backwards at 3 x the traffics speed is damn fun.

Good stuff Ghost. Wish it got cold enough here continuously in huntington wv to do that. I own Hockey ice skates, but they are 1 size too small now :/ thought I bought em big enough back in the day. Also the closest ice rink is 40-50 miles from town. Id love to take my kid but last ice rink I went to had the shittiest rentals, I would have been better off in my work boots, at least they would be predictable! I could probably tolerate the smaller skates over rentals(dunno what that rinks are like though) but I'd hate to put shitty gear on my kids feet after having quality gear off the ice.

Man, I used to skate all the time. Was pretty decent at the time. But watching the stuff these kids can do now...amazing. Constantly impressed.

I still snowboard when I can, but having just moved to Texas, I don't see much of that in the foreseeable future. lol

I recently bought a reissue Steve Caballero and Corey O'brien. A couple of my old favorites. I want to get a Marty Jiminez Bat Outta Hell and old Hosio Hammerhead too.

I guess I dig collecting stuff from my childhood. My wife calls me a hoarder. lol
