hahahaha not to that extreme. if they are a female officer, then you might be in even more trouble. which could be a good or bad thing

I've had these issues before. makes you feel like shit for just trying to be yourself. & without a dated picture for proof, it's your word against his. you lose.

I don't even know what his name is or anything. I can't read that horrible scribble of a signature

I'm just going to take it to court.

The lenses were a little dirty like they all are, i cleaned them and they're slightly brighter now.
The bad thing is, there's nothing proving you didn't run into WalMart and buy bulbs before taking that picture. It's his word against yours, and "innocent until proven guilty" only seems to apply to things like murder... "Guilty because the cop says so" is pretty much how basic traffic violations are ruled (I learned that firsthand last year.)

The cop's badge number should be on the ticket, so you can call and identify him that way, possibly. They may deny you his name, and I feel that is unfair, as you SHOULD be able to know the name of your accuser!

You've been rightfully pulled over for some stupid shit in the past, but this is idiotic. I wonder if he ran your plates and saw you have an extensive record... figured if he pulls you over, he'll find SOMETHING to ticket you for... and he found nothing. So he made something up that can't be argued in his presence, as he can refuse to allow you to exit the vehicle (because a 90lb kid is SUCH a threat to a trained, armed police officer!)

ive been pulled over for that before and i just asked to take a look which they allowed. One of the lights were out.

When i used to have my 85 Accord, I'd always have someone stand behind my car and have them signal me if any of the lights back there were out as to avoid problems like this. Now on my 97 Ford Ranger, i was actually missing one of the sockets for the lamps on the license plate. I was never pulled over while that socket was missing but as to not take any chances, i just went to the pick and pull to get a replacement. I guess that one bulb that i still had was bright enough to light up the whole plate which was probably why no one stopped me.

Yeah, I've had a park ranger tell me one of my rear plate bulbs were out. He said it's a $200 ticket in NJ. He was kind enough not to do anything about it (not sure if rangers can write tickets, but I think they're able to...) He was also ejecting me from the park at twilight as well... so he was doubly kind not to do anything to me!

MOST law enforcement agents are cool. Some are strict by-the book types, which is irritating, but you can't fault them for doing their job. Some are just assholes that like to abuse their power...

Probably less. Jersey is right behind California in terms of strict and expensive things regarding cars!

The cop CANNOT refuse you the right to exit your vehicle and check for yourself BEFORE the ticket is written.

You have every right to exit your vehicle and check for yourself.

Obviously it is dangerous and he knows that but simply stating to him that your going to exit and take a look is all he needs.

If you ask, "may I take a look" then he has the chance to say no and then it becomes an argument.

He can't legally keep you in your car.

I would have said, "That's funny because Im pretty sure they were working yesterday, let me see if maybe it is loose" and proceeded to step out.

I've been told to stay in my vehicle by a police officer in the past. I asked politely if I could exit, and he refused. I forget the reason, but he would not allow me to get out of the car, and had his hand on his gun.
I'm not dangerous looking. I have no criminal record. I barely have a driving record. I wasn't doing anything truly suspicious (I THINK it was a headlight that got me pulled over.) The only other person in the car with me was my girlfriend.
