In my experience, beer just makes me lazy. When I drink beer, we just sit around and play pool or just bullshit. With vodka or any type of liquor, we get rowdy/loud etc etc. Normally something gets broken, and lots of laughs are had.
I said the same thing..lol...but iam wondering if that had to do with how the "group" drinks. When a group drinks beer, some people pound them down, some don't, so you wind up with, not buzzed, buzzed, drunk, and shit faced. If the group is matching shot for shot, then everyone is on about the same level.
Don't think I've seen anyone mention the fact that Whiskey and certain liquors make people "angry drunks".
I, myself, am the same no matter what. Beer, wine, liquor.
I actually prefer sweet champagne....idk why, I can drink it for hours lol.
My favorite beer would be hard ciders and Guiness/Killians.
Liquor is definitely Whiskey with Rum being a close 2nd. I also love cordials because I have a sweet tooth lol.
I think the OP is looking for this answer-
Personality. It isn't the alcohol that changes people, but the person that changes.
Alcohol just brings it out, but it's always there.
I do believe it does matter, because generally, people don't always get shit faced on beer.
When your looking to get bombed, liquor is usually involved and I know people who are chill but become angry and people who are tightly wound who loosen up.
Its not the alcohol, but the persons reaction to the alcohol.
Certain types of liquor makes me sort of uncomfortable-like hot and just fidgety. I stay away from clear stuff because of this. I can do vodka/gin/tequila w/out much issue most of the time, but certain brands can provoke a flush feeling that generally blows my vibe. I usually associate this feeling with cheap booze.
I personally am a whiskey/bourbon/scotch man.
Sweeter drinks give me a headache, and I think that leads to a crappy attitude too. Basically I think that some brew can make you hot/flush or whatever and others are a cool, comfortable vibe.
Cheap shit always makes you hot. Does that make sense? So to me the drink can effect my behavior. Maybe not directly, but it contributes to the way I feel, which influences the vibe of the night, which could have a direct effect on my attitude.
I dont do girly cinnamon shit because of this either.
Really, If it isn't brown and carmelly looking Im probably not drinking it. Another pre-requisite;
If it doesn't have a cork, no beuno. Corked booze = quality 99% of the time.
Twist top-sign of crappy quality. Some good shit has a twist top, but most of the time its a sign of el cheapo drinko
Also, why does anyone mix soda with whiskey?
WTF is the deal here? If you don't like the way the whiskey tastes, buy a different bottle. The "soda" tastes like shit after you add liquor, and the "liquor" tastes like shit after you add the soda.
I really have never understood that. Especially when someone drinks diet. WTF is that? Are you really enjoying that?
Seriously, just slam a couple shots if you are only drinking to get a buzz.
Fawk.

Generally agree with everything else you wrote, but I can't agree with this.
A good quality rum mixed with reg coke, tastes great imo.
Sure if your an afficinado, then you probably wouldn't want to mix it with Soda, but that's a small % of people.
Generally speaking, Rum and cokes are good if mixed right.
Sometimes, if not, they do taste like shit, but it's the mix....and/or ingredients...
Coke is about the only soda I understand mixing whiskey with.
Otherwise, whiskey is best served neat-my opinion.
Other booze, sure, I get why those get mixed. Rum is terrible to drink straight most of the time. Vodka, pphhhhhhtppppp, nobody thought that shit up to be served on the rocks. lol/
Gin either.
Scotch, whiskey, bourbon, all best served straight. I suppose that may just be my opinion. To me its like the kid that started with steel reserve, then bought natty ice, stepped up to bud light, then regular bud, then tried REAL BEER and BLAM just like that it was almost an epiphany-the drinker realized what he had been missing all along.
Whiskey- best served straight.
I'll gladly take my Gin with a side of juice though, lol.

I drink my liquor straight, most of the time. I stick to whiskey and gin for this reason. Straight rum tastes like rancid sugar water, and vodka tastes like... nothing. Tequila is ok on occasion, but I made the mistake of sipping on half a 750ml of Jose Cuervo one night, and have had no desire to try that again!
I DO like scotch/whiskey/bourbon/rye with a little water or soda water. It depends on the brand, and whether or not it was kept in the freezer... but I prefer a mellow taste. Water, just a little, mellows it out. As does serving it from the freezer. I don't mix my whiskey with anything else, though. No sweet sodas, no juice, nothing.
Gin I like straight. From the freezer is best. I can enjoy a gin and tonic, though... and a little lime juice in the g&t or just the straight gin can be a nice change.
Last night we had some shots of Southern Comfort; we reused shot glasses that had been used for Rumple Minze. Needless to say, the shot was delicious, with a peppermint finish.
