EDIT... I hope your right Ralphie. I would be extremely glad to be wrong. I just think the motive is out there though.
Exactly. Duty Station. When you deploy to Iraq, you leave your duty station and report to a FOB or forward operating base.

Duty station just means that is where you are based out of.

They can't make your duty station in the middle of Darfur.

How exactly would they disarm us? Door to door?

Are we going to report to our local PD?

    It's just not even possible.

I have not done much research on the fact but I need to. At the bottom of that post I said "Still in question IMO, but something to look into none the less."

Why I brought it up is because it is making a lot of people uncomfortable, and I don't necessarily like it myself.

Basically, with people being so damn worried about having their guns taken away and with some people even making violent threats about it, they should put the Disarmament, Demobilization and Reintegration specialists somewhere else simply for the sake of damage control. They are aware of that fact and should have made other arrangements for that reason alone as we are already overflowing with turmoil. If they are not going to be used here it shouldn't be any big deal to out them somewhere else. Putting them here shouldn't even be an option. They have no business here.

It's like parking your car out in the street when you could park it in your driveway and knowing it's going to piss your neighbor off in doing so.

Again, I'm not on one side of the fence or the other. But the above statement is why it interests me.

There hasn't been, and never will be, a motion to remove arms from law abiding citizens in this country.

There has been assault weapons bans, and regulations, but never has there been talk about taking away weapons from the entire US population............

so can we PLEASE stop acting like it's a reality or even something remotely possible, no matter how many times it's happened in history.

You want the UN to station their people in other countries, even places that are dangerous, just so you can sleep at night with your SKS?

        Really?

        Who's really silly?

That is just a job opening for the UN and then you come along and turn it into propaganda to fuel this anti obama/anti weapon/anti 2nd ammendment/anti everything fire.

        Just stop, please.

I think this thread might have run its course... it will most likely be deleted soon.

Well that's your call boss man.

Im not heated over any of this, I just don't get it.

I don't hunt, but I work around dangerous felons all day. I have seen them out in public after their release.

Some work down the street from my house.

I do plan on getting a personal weapon for protection, because I actually do need it.

I am in no rush though. Whether I pick one up next year, or in 10 years, I am pretty positive that as a US Citizen, I will still be able to legally own a firearm for personal defense.

I just don't see the Govt stepping in and trying to take them away. We would never allow it.

What's funnny is that people get all bent out of shape about the govt taking their weapons away when in reality the power is in our control. We decide who gets elected, we decide who we send to D.C. to do our bidding and we decide what we will put up with and what we won't.

It's not that this is getting out of hand... but it has major potential to do so. Lots of opinions, only a handful of facts, and I stopped reading it early on because there were far too many "fact based" assumptions being thrown around.
That sort of thing leads to arguments, bad blood, and frustration.

Wow, Ralphie. I was not expecting such statements from you... sorry to upset you. After all they are just some peoples views. There are a lot of people in this world, one has to be tolerant of a many different views these days.

I thought with the decreased volume of traffic the site is having we could discuss practically anything without issue. That was my mistake. Bad call on my part.

I too agree the thread ran its course. Probably days ago. I met a really cool person through this thread, so I'm happy!

I've seen threads such as these drive good members away. If people are going to be driven away by arguments here, I'd rather it be over engine swaps than political views!

Why would you think im upset?

I am just passionate about some things. When I have strong feelings on something, it comes through in my posts. Please don't take it the wrong way.

All I am saying, is you're most certainly welcome to your opinion, and so is the rest of the world. I would never take that away from anyone....

but anyone can see that the posted link is for a simple opening with the U.N. No where does it make mention of the U.S. or the disarmament of U.S. citizens. The candidate is just going to be stationed in the U.S.

It clearly says where the operations will be.

If you post real info that's credible, let's decipher it together, but shit like that just bothers me, don't take it personal.

Any day of the week Geoff or Dave could post the same shit lol.

I agree man, were cool! As you can probably imagine with the views I have I face HEAVY criticism. So I tend not to get to worried.

I must have got the wrong vibe off your post which is easy being as all we have are words and letters over the internet. It's hard to put emphasis on some things and whatnot if you get what I mean.

You make a good point Ralphie as always. That is a very logical standpoint on the matter. It definitely has some weight as to how I feel about it. I still don't know enough to make a decision one way or the other. But I'm definitely off the fence about it so to speak.

As far as where I stand on firearm confiscation: Some people support it and there are people out there, both citizens and politicians that want it. I stand against that. Simply put. It's not something that needs strong opposition. However, I'm an American, I love my country and I love my rights. Those that oppose firearms are against all three. So I too, have strong feelings about that. Is it possible? Very very unlikely. But its the idea that I can't stand.

I'm all for leaving this thread open Deev. It's interesting for me to see some of our younger members articulate something that is so sensitive in society today. I am also in no way offended by anything that anyone has said to me in this thread.

I think it's healthy and maybe someone learns a thing or two.
Ralph and I may not see eye to eye in terms of politics or how to run the Country,
but we have 2 other passions, and that is our cars and our damn cameras.
Even then, we may have our dis-agreements. Hell, I can't help it if he's a Gov. Lackey!

YET. One step at a time. I am not saying it will happen but itd be easier to do in stages compared to just taking all guns at once.

I'll leave it open until fighting starts... though I do occasionally glimpse some pretty hair-brained conspiracy theories from people I otherwise respect, and I don't like seeing that. Political discussions only serve to unnecessarily make you think your fellow man is an idiot.
For example, I think most conspiracy theorists are nuts. My friend Chris is a great guy. Awesome musician, fun to talk to, real easy going... but he's a hardcore libertarian who thinks everyone with any sort of government job is out to destroy this country and rape all of its citizens. I like the guy, and at least he doesn't mind when I poke holes in his theories just to mess with him... but when it comes to that stuff, I think he's a moron.
Then again, he probably thinks the same of me.
Our friendship hasn't suffered for it, thankfully... but it's an unnecessary reason for two otherwise friendly people to think less of each other. It's hard to think highly of someone that vehemently spouts views that you see as either archaic or completely batty!

When I was reading your post Deev, for some reason I was thinking about Jonathan Davis.

And before it starts, no, I don't get a lot of my information from Alex Jones.

I see what you mean Deev about losing faith so to speak in people you once thought had a higher level of intelligence. I feel the same way but on the other side of the spectrum. From my position, the individual is not to blame, its those which have been feeding them the information they believe to be reality.

EDIT... How the government really works.

Not like most people have 1:30 to spend watching a video. But its here if one wants to. I don't think most people will be able to understand nor be open minded enough to even try. But it's here for anyone who might. If you cannot grasp it by 10 or 12 minutes then your probably wasting your time. There is a break at about 1:30. The rest after that doesn't have audio.

While Diane Feinstein admits she couldn't get the votes, to think there are those in the government that wouldn't want to take away our firearms, or that it is not talked about, is simply naive...
