Not over stepping boundaries, just brush up on the forum rules and familiarize yourself with the sections so you don't run into this problem in the future.

Just because there is more viewers in the off topic section doesn't mean that all those people are in the market. Actually most of the viewers in off topic are guests that can't even see the classifieds section, you stand a way better chance for selling your item in the proper area.
