I came into work this morning and my boss asked if I had any plans in the near future. I responded no and he responded "You're going to Brazil, plan for a week, pack for two weeks, but be prepared for a month". So yea, I'm going to Brazil. Staying in the Boa Viagem district in Recife. Should be an interesting experience...

I always wonder why people get excited about going anywhere down there.
"I'm going to Mexico for vacation!"
"... on purpose?"
It sounds like going anywhere in Central/South America you have a 50/50 chance of getting sick or robbed. We have beaches, better food, and no language barrier right here in 'murica. Odds of getting robbed are only around 10%

I have very little desire to visit anything south of the United States myself. The Top Gear episode where they were in Argentina and Chile tempted me a bit, as the scenery was beautiful... but not enough for me to truly want to go down there!Originally posted by CyborgGT View PostI always wonder why people get excited about going anywhere down there.

The only places outside of North America I truly want to see are in Europe, Australia/New Zealand, Japan, Malaysia (mainly because I want to visit blizzard335...), and possibly South Korea. Africa, Central/South America, and mainland Asia are of little interest. Wildlife, climate, and culture (one or all of those things) just turn me off in many of those places.

Yeah. As somebody who drove to Los Mochis with their green eyed blonde wife, it's shitty being nervous about the 50/50 chance of being robbed or having a kidnapped loved one. Fuuuuuuuck that. They also barely have AC so no thanks.
I'd like to visit Australia though. Meet Moog and Marty. Eat a kangaroo, you know.

I love Mexico. The air quality in Mexico City gets to me after awhile, oh but the cuisine (the only rule is to not frequent a taco stand that isn't busy or doesn't have dogs hanging around, since they can smell bad meat...)Originally posted by CyborgGT View PostI always wonder why people get excited about going anywhere down there.
