I once got $30 on a $36 check (as in $66 total). The guy was happy with my service

A girl I work with got $50 on $60 from people that looked like they crawled out of the ghetto (again, be nice to EVERYONE!) and $130 (and a little bag of weed) on $70 from some uberstoners.... probably dealers.

i've done that before, because a lot of times im too lazy to even try and figure out the correct tip amount, so a lot of times i just over tip, which is good for the waiter/waitresss

as for pizza delievery guys, when we DO order out.... they get three bucks from us.

          yes we're cheap bastards
I always give the delivery guy like 5-10 bucks. That way next time i order they know me and bring my food fast and hot.

Theres a movie coming out called "waiting" it looks so hilarious but its based on waiters and how they get some really ignorant customers who expect everything perfect and they screw with thier food to. I cant wait till it comes out. Just thought id add that to this thread.

                Tips

In Vegas, just about everyone is in the service industry and rely on their tips, so out here everyone tips pretty strong.I'm a barback at MGM Grand.

i heard at starbucks in vegas, they get like 5-6hour more on tips. but there minimum wage is lower so it makes sense.

here i only get maybe 1.50/hr in tips....just some gas/food money.

you should always leave 20% unless they REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY SUCK! my g/f works are cracker barrel and their hourly pay is like 2-3 bucks the live off tips. think if you spend 3 hours there and tip 3 bucks that is a buck an hour. think about it. you don't want to get a buck a hour?

That movie is based on Bennigan's... and actually filmed in a Bennigan's I work at Bennigan's, so it was freakin hilarious! And yes... there isn't much exaggeration going on. That stuff DOES happen. ALWAYS abide by the cardinal rule: Don't fuck with people who handle your food!

Tonight, I got a bunch of great tips... except for one couple. They were really cool, and extemely happy. They had a $38 check. The lady handed me a $25 gift card and her credit card... SO, after bringing her the credit card slip back (reading $13.00) I found $3 in cash on the table. $3 on $38! They had never come to Bennigan's before. I honestly hope they never come back... for their sake!
A girl I work with (soon to be 'worked with') had the most horrible people tonight. $130 check, TOTAL assholes. She put an 18% gratuity on the check (table of 8, so she could). 15% is the stated rate, but everyone adds the 18% when a table sucks. Well, these people did the math, and figured it out... called over the manager, who then yelled at the waitress... and took the gratuity off. That poor waitress got $4! FOUR freakin dollars on a $130 check that took most of the night. I pretty much finished the night out for her becuase she was too busy crying in the back.

Hey guys, what do you do when at a bar, do you tip for every drink they serve, or tip after a few drinks or if you know your leaving, etc. tonight a bartender said to me something alnong the lines of 'wheres my tip?' didnt even give me a chance to tip ro anything, i thought that was so rude, so I said, what is there a mandatory tipping fee?

I usually tip pretty well, but just for example I tipped 7 dollars and the change on a $40 meal at Outback(17.5%).

I've been a waiter. It sucked. I worked in a small restaurant in a small town at lunchtime. Usually took home less than five dollars in tips for a whole day. I'll admit, I wasn't the cutest waitress ever, but that sucked.

very good point. if the check if near or over 50 dallors you shold atleast be tipping 10 or more dollars. even if they suck. i mean you will normally be a nice place or spend a while (due to a lot of people) when a check is that high. its just what you are suppose to do.
