Anyone else get the new Coheed and Cambria CD?

I bought it yesterday. After an initial listen I liked it a lot. I did find it very similar to "In Keeping Secrets 3:" compared to "Second Stage...", but I thought it was really good. It's got a little more polish and pop sensibility compared to the earlier stuff IMO, but I think it just adds.

The only thing I disagree with is the songs they're highlighting. They highlight Welcome Home (Track 3) and The Suffering (Track 9). While I do agree with Welcome Home (even though it reminds me of Led Zeppelin's Kashmir a little too much) I don't think The Suffering is radio friendly AT ALL. Tenspeed (Track 4) is the hit off that CD if you ask me.

Anyone else buy this CD? Any agreement/disagreement with my review?

You know you made this thread just for me.

    OF COURSE I BOUGHT IT!

Yes, the whole CD sounds more polished, even poppy at first listen, but with lyrics and a story such as it does, CO&CA can do what they want. They've proved themselves to me.

The more I listen to the CD the more I like it. I also bought the grapic novel, which is cool. It did cost $17 and only took me 30min to read, but it was worth it. It also came with two free trading cards, which is possibly the geekiest thing ever, but still cool.

I'm drving over ten hours to see them in Des Moines, Iowa on Oct. 5th. Unlike you people on the east coast, I have to drive rediculous distances to see them. It's gonna be amazing, especially with their new band member.

Okay, gotta go to work, I'll check back later to see if anyone else responds(yeah, right).

Wait...new band member? Who's that? On the album, they only list the 4 people (Claudio, Josh, Michael and Travis).

I kinda want the story, just because I know the whole concept, but I haven't been able to figure it out really. Speaking of that, what do you think of the album artwork? I think some of the pictures are pretty cool

But anyways I liked this CD more on the first listen than the previous CDs, so I want to see how it grows on me.

That sucks you have to drive that far to see them. The first time I saw them I wasn't there to see them per say, they were opening for Thursday. But they won me over live. I saw them with Underoath last November...hopefully they come around again.

      *EDIT*

hmm, they're coming to Worcester in November and then Providence a few days later...Providence is less than an hour...I wish I knew the opening acts, the names don't sound familiar.

i disagree with you. the suffering sounds very poppy (i mean, c'mon, listen to the chorus) and welcome home, well, i find that to be one of my least favorite tracks on the cd. At first it was cool, but it just seems to drag on forever. Anyway, changing focus to the better parts of the album, i really enjoy the rest of it quite a bit.

Josh Eppard(the drummer) has a hip-hop side project called Weerd Science. One of the members of his band is going to be doing keyboard, guitar, and possibly backup vocals so they can do live all cool sounds and overlays that are on the album.

The story is amazing, the more I learn the less I understand, but the more I get pulled into it. If you like the album's artwork, check out the graphic novel, it has all that and more, plus it helps you understand who is "speaking" in the songs on the album.

If you haven't already, check out CobaltandCalcium.com for tons of info and theories.

Edit: I'm seeing them with Blood Brothers(I've heard they suck) and Me Without You(who I've seen before). They always have weird opening bands. I mean come on, Dashboard Confessional?
