    AWD cars?

ok so might sell my cb because of the snow, since yesterday it snowed here in denver!! and had to get a ride for school from my parents and suggested that i should get a 4x4 truck, but i dont like 4x4 trucks in fact i dont like trucks at all. so i was wondering if any of you guys know a car thats AWD but that's no that new? just let me know thanks in advance i know some subarus are AWD but what would you suggest? i mean this is just a thought about changing to another band

Dude all that you need is 4 good snow tires, I get around just fine..... It's been snowing here and there really isn't anywhere off limits for me, hell.....people with AWD and big-ass 4X4s are in the ditches. I just smile as I pass.

snow tires and/or chains ftw...i've been rolling around in about 8 inches of snow all week with em. best bet as far as awd goes is something like a subaru legacy or subaru gl. my buddy has a gl with bald tires but he was driving all over in the snow lol.

Price range should narrow down the choices significantly.

just buy good winter tires for your CB and learn how to drive in effing snow. its not hard. the only problems i have with my accord is hard acceleration in snow, and i have summer tires.

if you want a decent awd your gonna shell out. from personal experience, its not worth buying one for the few shit days out of the year you will have. they are costly to run, drive, and maintain. awd means more shit to go wrong, and more shit to service. dont get me wrong, i love my subaru to pieces, but it just sits all summer long, and only comes out on bad snowy days. running it isnt cheap, as said. having all wheels being pushed along = eat gas. lots of gas, compared to the accord, and so on. your decision. or your parents. i would just stick with your accord if i were you.

you don't need an awd car. a front engine, front wheel drive car has enough weight on the drive wheels to make traction fairly easy with the right tires. a standard is even better because you can rock the car if you happen to get stuck. they are still fun as hell to drive but by no means a necessity.

                    but

                    awd + snow + donuts =

That only happened in the mid 90's. Prior to that they sold plenty of FWD cars.

And yes, in general I do agree when it comes to snow I think I'd rather have good snow tires and fwd than all-seasons on an AWD. Then again, I've never really driven in snow with either.

They're no fun to drive? You don't need ground clearance, you just need traction.

everything is wrong with trucks. unless you need one for work or mud bogging.

My cousin said his new (at the time) 1986 Toyota PU was more fun than the 1977 Olds Cutlass (modded) he traded in for it.

He said if he popped the clutch enough he could get the front wheels to pop off the ground. Yes, he replaced the clutch many a time. He said burnouts and all that was real easy in those.

Granted he'd jump stuff with it too. Anyways, I think a truck would be fun.
