Im really diggin on the band Death. Chuck Schuldiner was an amazing musician.

I havent really listened to metal in a while but im getting the bug to start again.

I need to break out my Slayer albums, those are always good to get out any frustration thats been pent up.

Yeah, I've been a Death fan for a LONG time... Hell, I remember throwing like $10 into the donation bucket at my local record store to try to help save Chuck... it's a shame he couldn't have been saved. He had no insurance, apparently. Death was an extremely unique band (aside from the horribly bland name). The "new members for every album" concept was reminiscent of jazz groups. I actually met Paul Masvidal when he was playing in Cynic (another AMAZING, jazz-influenced band). He and the guys from Cynic were stoked about the cool jazz section at the record store (same one with the donation jar... Full Circle Records in Blackwood NJ... GREAT place)

There was something great about the late 80s and early to mid 90s death metal. Once hardcore and nu-metal got mixed in, and black metal became mainstream (thanks, Cradle of Filth! ) metal just hasn't been the same. There are some amazing bands, but there isn't much new that really moves me anymore.




Getting away from the death metal... anyone listen to Prong? I just downloaded Cleansing (no tape player anymore... I DO own it! ) and it's still really good! Who's Fist Is This Anyway is an amazing song.

Also, a band that I'm sure nobody ever heard of... Fleshold. I have to dig it up again... kickass album.

i just started listening to Killswitch Engage. i started listening to Slipknot a couple of years ago. my list:


Madina Lake
Slipknot
Killswitch Engage
Static-X
Chevelle

and a couple fo others. but these are the only ones of metal that ill pay any attention to. i only listen to a couple of songs by Slipknot like "Duality" and "before i forget".

most of those I'd consider hardcore or metal-core. Some of it's good stuff. I used to listen to Slipknot all the time but for how many people are in that band I think it should be more involved, technical, and intricate.

Ahh, 3 months have gone by and no posting. That's because I find myself bored with any new stuff and any stuff coming out of older bands.

Arch Enemy's latest was suprisingly good.

One of my favorite bands Himsa has a new album that doesn't do much for me.

If you like hardcore check out Nights Like These. Their latest is pretty solid.

Full Blown Chaos's latest is just like their rest which means good but nothing new.

How bout Serj Tankian's solo album. I like it, not love it. He's definitely weird and it's not for most people. I'd like to hear more from him cause apparently he has hundreds of songs just not recorded/released.

Holidays are over and Spring will be here soon which means more concerts to go to.

I've discovered a new band Wintersun and his original band Ensiferum. Melodic guitar work to die for. Kind of like Children of Bodom.

And I just found out Black Dahlia Murder has another album out. I am so out of the loop.

Holy shit, back from the dead. I forgot about this thread I made.

God Forbid has a new album. I haven't really listened to it yet.

I got into some folky mostly scandinavian metal. Eluveitie, Korpiklaani, TYR.
With accordians, violins, lyres, and shit I don't know.
Korpiklaani makes some really catchy dancing/singing shouting songs. Kinda of like Flogging Molly.

The best band Akercocke has a put another album "Antichrist". Awesome as always.

I was gonna go to Mayhem fest to see Slayer and Cannibal Corpse when they came to Allbuquerque. who else is going? I has no money though.

New albums by Suicide Silence, Job for a Cowboy, Impending doom, and Iwrestledabearonce. dont know if anyone likes those bands. i do. SS kept the same soudn. JFAC didnt really catch their sequel album but im liking the new one. Impending doom are fucking heavy as fuck heavier than their debut. IWABO is a band that combines like ten different styles of musicc to one. crazy. really hard to get into.

Anyone catch the Summer Slaughter tour? it came by my town and it was sick even though it was at a shitty venue.
