well we are going thru* some crazy weather changes, our magnetic pols are changing and this might affect us, as we depend on this.
so you never know what is going to happen. plus the Mayan civilization disappeared all of the sudden.According to the Mayan Long Count Calendar, December 21, 2012 is the end of this human civilization. Human beings will enter a whole new civilization, which is totally unrelated to the current one. The Mayan people did not mention the cause. One thing is clear: the last day does not mean the arrival of any calamity; instead, it implies a whole new cosmic awareness and spiritual transition towards the new civilization.

yeah...i've read this as well....apperantly, there are many calendars, whose time ends around December 2012....a lot of the reports are just subjective crap....but once in a while there's the odd objective report on this issue.
From what I've gathered, these calendars are all based on a cyclical calendar that spans somewhere around 26000 years.
One thing to note is that all these civilizations, Mayans, Aztecs, Sumarians, Babylonians, according to modern theology, only existed after 10 000 years , but all their calendars start thousands of years before that....weird
another interesting fact...the Sphinx of Egypt has prominent water damage that is commonly caused by heavy rains...according to geologists, this type of rain hasn't been in Egypt since at least before 12 500 years...yet modern archaeological theory dismiss this claim and still say that the Sphinx is less than 5000 years old.
Another issues is that there is really no way to date these megalithic structures....they are only carbon dated based on the organic matter that is found around the artifacts....so if they find some charcoal around a ancient pyramid, they date that and some other pieces of charcoal and say its as old as the carbon that has been depleted...
being from Sri Lanka, Im really interested in this stuff...even there, most of the ancient structures have been falsely misrepresented...and most of the time the "real" written history don't even match with local historical evidence.
sh*t...that was too much writing...oh well

My personal theory is that the aztec dude making the calendar finally realized that he got so far ahead on his work that it is impossible that him or any of his close decedents or anybody would be living, so why bother continuing. He then put down his pencil and moved to Florida, and told a dude to leave a note telling someone to start working with the calendar in the year 2000. The dude he told could not write, so the note never got made.Gary A.K.A. Carter

well i also remember hearing lots of stuff, on lots of dates, and nothing really ever happened.
like how the antichrist was supposed to take over june 6th 2006 (06/06/06)
and how theirs a big assed comet that was supposed to hit us a few years back with the impact of 10 atomic bombs
etc etc
im not going to believe a calander that was created thousands of years ago, when they had no real insight of what our future was going to be like...
and come on now, it was the Mayans... its all about the Zapotecs
i mean, did any one ever stop and think "Well, what if the dude who was creating the mayan calander got lazy after a couple thousand years?"
