My girlfriend just got her Finnish citizenship. Having dual citizenship USA/EU is a powerhouse combo. Citizens can work in each union, thus, HUGE area of potential employment and benefits including free healthcare.
I could technically get my Israeli citizenship and possibly my UK citizenship. My nan's a brit, renounced her citizenship to become an american citizen. I'm not sure of the process but I think I can get a UK citizenship.
It's all weird... I'd like to start a passport collection...

I considered going to Japan to work... found a good job opportunity. Low pay, but an easy transition. Unfortunately, non-residents pay 20% of their gross income in taxes! Not good!
I'd be interested in obtaining citizenship in another country, though. Ireland would be pretty cool. Who knows... someday I might just say F it and pack up and go. I'll always have a little bit o' home as long as I can log on here!

you guys are aware that dual citizenship is illegal for us citizens right? alot of other countries recognizes dual citizenship, however if you guys choose to do so just hide it form us customs and immigration. BUT if they decide to look through your stuff and see it... they will question and interrogate your beliefs and mentality of the USSo SIIC...

I don't think anyone can apply for a Swiss account like they use to where everything was anonymous. That is good to know about the tax thing because I wouldn't want to pay taxes to two country.Originally posted by mchaleytaxes depend on where you work, not where you reside.
If you go to Japan to work for a year you have to pay taxes in Japan, thats it.
Now to BRING CASH INTO a country, might be a different story, I'm not sure how to handle that... swiss bank account :P
Are you sure about this? I have not done any research yet so I'm not doubting you but skeptical.Originally posted by nghtrydr23you guys are aware that dual citizenship is illegal for us citizens right? alot of other countries recognizes dual citizenship, however if you guys choose to do so just hide it form us customs and immigration. My family already have dual residency (except for me and my sis). I have the chance of applying for residency to Hong Kong because of my mom. We have a couple of houses/properties in Hong Kong and China so housing are taken care of. For job, I can work for my dad and uncle's water purifying factory. The opportunity my dad have set for me sounds appealing already but I want to keep my options open.
Its not a big deal if I get it or not, the government issue (if true) may be a con.
