I'm still on the hunt for a job. I have a bunch of resumes and applications out there already, but I'm still waiting to be called (it's only been a few days for most of them, and this is the weekend, so I'll probably get a call...)
Anyway, I'm going headlong into something. Anything. I'm not happy with the insecure, unpredictable position I'm in now, so I'm just gonna cowboy up and get a big boy job
So, I'm gonna bite the bullet and go for retail management. I can do it. I know I'd be damn good at it. I never wanted to before because of the hours and the work itself... but it beats restaurant work, and it beats not knowing what I'll make from week to week (at the mercy of a lawfirm that occasionally pays, and two other subcontractors that pass my work down to me... rather unstable!)
I've applied to:
Home Deopt
Walgreens
Bed Bath and Beyond
About to apply to:
Wawa
Discmakers (not as "big corporate" as the others... they make CDs... pretty cool company. My friend that designed the official CB7tuner tshirt works there, and that tshirt design helped him get that job )
Does anyone have any suggestions for other good companies to work for? I'm looking for $35k/yr MINIMUM... that's pretty low, and considerably less than I pulled in last year... but it'll get me by comfortably enough. I can't go in somewhere making $12/hr... I just can't live on that pay. I need about $17.50 an hour, and a 40 hour workweek.
I'm not just interested in the money, but also a good place. If I'm going to get a "real" job, I'm going to go with a company that is successful, treats their employees with respect, and is well organized. That means no Wal Mart, and probably no Target. The companies I've applied to are very well run.
So, any suggestions would be great! I don't know what a lot of the management positions make in these places, so if anyone knows, please throw it out there! I don't want to waste my time or theirs by getting an interview just to turn down a $22k/yr job!
