I got it inspected today and put 30 miles on it. It tried to give me one last "screw you" and the windshield wiper switch decided to unplug it's self before the inspection. Luckily the dude was cool and let me fix it. Thank fuck.

The fuel gauge quit working on me. So fucking sick of that shit. I have a solution though. Not going to be done soon but still yet it'll be a permanent fix.

The power steering cooler line leaks but it's an easy fix. Doesn't leak a drop of coolant and seems to hold oil very well.

Carb still needs tuned and I'm still going to throw a new coil, cap and rotor on it for safe measure.

55mph at 2050RPM's. Not too bad. Once the carbs tuned it might get 8mpg.

I still have fuel problems... I cannot explain how sick and tired I am of fuel issues.

It's just been hacked to many times and it too old and hard to find parts for. So I'm going a different route. I hate too but I don't like playing with fuel issues. One mishap and it goes up in flames hopefully while no one is in it.

I'm removing both tanks, all the fuel line. Completely getting rid of the diverter valve as well. I'm redoing the entire fuel system.

I'm going to install a fuel cell in place of the rear fuel tank. 16 gallon is plenty. To fill the tank I'm going to cut a square section of the bed out and use the cut out section to make a flip style lid to fill the tank. It's not the most convient but right now I have a truck waiting to break down on the road or a fire ball waiting to happen.

I got this thing legal and driveable and now I haven't touched it in well over a week.

In this thread early on I think I mentioned the previous owner said he thought it needed a water pump because it was making noise periodically. Well it really started to make noise when I parked it. I didn't think much of it as I can replace it without much trouble. Today I fired it up and got a closer look, it's the alternator eating it's self. I can put my hand on it and the sound is in sync with the harsh vibrations of the alternator.

Other than that no new news.

Good timing. Looks like you got this drivable about the time all the snow came.

Yeah, just about right in time. Another foot of snow on top of the 6 or so inches we got so far would make for a bit more fun. Not enough snow to really see the limits. But I know it's capable of quite a bit which I'm happy for. Drove it 45 miles today in 4x4 the whole time. Good test.

Had a good romp. 5200rpm or so. Don't plan on doing this again so I wanted to record it.

                      At the new house.

Nice house. Given some tweaking of the picture and if the truck looked like it came from the showroom, that would look like a Ford poster from the 80s.

Yeah, this pic is very deceiving.

                            Good read following your progress.

It reminded me alot of when I was getting a 69 Mustang back to road-worthy status. I found myself scratching my head alot thinking "why in the hell did Ford do it this way?" Lol.

It's worlds away from the CB7, especially going to a full size truck.

What are your plans for it? Reliable farm truck? Car hauler? mud-bogger? Weekend cruiser?

Would love to have a 69 Mustang. And yeah, old Fords have some weird designs. Like the calipers and rear floating axle.

I pull a gooseneck with this truck and drive it when it snows. It replaced a 7.3 Powerstroke truck that was on it's way out, burning oil and such. This '86 F250 has damn near a new engine in it rebuilt by Jasper so it pulls hard and has a lot of life left. Not to mention it's much cheaper than rebuilding a diesel. And still yet has gobbs of torque.

Had to deliver two 55 gallon drums of used motor oil to a friend. As you can see one leaked a bit, not to happy to have to clean that out but oh well.

In order to get to the location I had to cross this. Road was closed but I drove around it, water was about 48" deep and was coming in the doors slightly. Advantages of weighing 3.5 tons, 7000lbs. Glad I had two 55 gallon drums of oil in the back.

I'm also glad I ran the vents for the axles way up in the front fender and way up in the bed. I'd hate to have to change the gear oil.

Still looking as good as it ever did.
