ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.
2 of 2 < >

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

I saw a video on youtube, the guy used a hair dryer on a low setting with no heat as he painted to pop bubbles.

    Its a good idea imo.

At the same time, for $80 and some labor it came out better than I expected for my first time.

@Toycar- In the first few pics you can see the original color, by the time I finished all coats, I don't think you can see it all.
And again I in NO WAY am putting down the work. I dont remember reading that you did all the sanding and buffing so I only went by what looked like the clearest picture. Wish you were closer, I would love to see it in person.

as for roller marks and bubbles - look at the pics of my Integra after I rolled it last month.
Note that I specified a temporary primer job, I would no more rattle can a paint job on a car then I would use a paint brush lol but for something to get you by till you can run to Macco rattle can primer is great and easy.

I wasn't mad, its always nice to hear some constructive criticism , I'm happy with how it came out, I do wish I spent more time taping off the molding though.

I took a walk-around video today, not sure why it came out so choppy. But if anyone is interested in it feel free to check it out.

Looks great for the price, you really cant beat it. Next time, invest in quality (3m) masking tape, and you wont have any of the bleeding that is evident on some of the trim. Otherwise, great job

Nice job man! I was actually debating on doing the same on my car. Idk, I still might go that route. I'm gonna start sanding and laying primer down soon... any advice?

I mean the rolling is alright an all, but this would be much easier with a decent paint gun.An im sure you could find a good used one on CL for el cheapo an even a compessor ive had 3-4 where ppl just wanted them gone.It would cut the time in half or more an would turn out better. But awsome job next time for masking try the green or gold tape way easier to work with.

Spraying is definitely faster and turns out better - you can't argue with that.

And a nice spray pain job can be done for probably under $250 including the cost of a decent gun, compressor, masking tape, respirator, and the paint itself.

The problem with spraying is that a lot of people just don't have a place to do that. If you spray in your garage, everything will be covered in overspray.. and if you live in a townhouse, your house will stink for a long time. If you spray outside, your neighbor's cars will be covered in overspray. Etc.
