ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    Door inserts

Can the LX cloth inserts be ripped out and just punch holes in them to fit se leather inserts? Im in a bind here no luck with leather doors and I'm desperate now. Or is there a difference in them?

yeah, you can fit the se door insert in your car.

i was going to do that also, but i decided to just remove the fabric, clean off all the glue and add some black tubing.

    looks like this.

    later.

Don't let the picture fool you, it's a major PITA to get that glue off.

I don't mind the work but I don't want to use something that will destroy the material.

If you don't mind the work, here's how I did mine.

It is possible to retrofit the non SE door panels to accept the SE insert. You have to grid out the tabs for the SE panel. Then drill out the grid and fine tune it with a dremel to attach the panel securely.

Here is an excerpt from my current interior project, I am not good at documenting a project so the info is kinda spotty at the moment.

I only wanted the substrate of the SE panels, so I removed the Leather/vinyl material so that I could re-trim it with foam and Ebony Alcantara.

                [

After drilling and finishing the gridded holes the trim panel can be attached:

Current Status; Drivers door needs Piano Black lower, all doors need New Door Release Handles and Ambient Lighting Inserts to be designed/installed.

                        Updated!!!!

So here is the update on how I put SE door inserts on my LX door panels. Start off by removing door panels.

Next remove all screws on back to take door panels apart.

                        What it looks like after.

Next remove the carpet off the panel. What is underneath is the leather/viny.

                        Cut the leather/vinyl off.

You will be left with a foam underneath keep that on.

Take the SE door insert lay it in position on top of the foam. Push down kind of hard to make the tabs leave a mark on the foam. I used a pen after to mark the locations.

Next drill out the marks you made. I kind of elongated mine when drilling.

You then can fit the tabs on the insert into the holes and lock them into place. For the carpet on bottom you can change if you want I did. Just used some auto carpet I picked up from Autozone. You can also get it at Wal-Mart for like 9 bucks a roll. I also recovered my speaker covers from fabric that best resembled the stock at the Wal-Mart fabric department. Finished product will look like this.

                        and completed rear doors.

Let me know what you guys think on how I did.
