ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

    whine from amp

I have a sqeeking whine in my speakers hooked up to the amp. The thing is it alternates sumtimes it does it and sumtimes it doesn't. I thought it was the ground but now I'm not sure. Any1 have some suggestions on what it could be? I have a kicker 4ch 400watt amp with kicker wiring.

Does it increase in sound while you accelerate? Pioneer decks have the tendency to do this. Trying grounding your rca's by wrapping wire around the connection points. If this fails, but a ground loop isolator.

I like to take the head unit's ground wire and attach it to the metal bracket holding the dash in place, so it's grounded right to the chassis.

How well is your amp's ground wire attached to the body?
I had an amp that would pick up engine noise when it was cold from a bad ground-body connection. If you use a ring terminal to a stock (tail light) ground bolt in the trunk, or a self-tapping screw into the metal it should alleviate that. Your RCAs aren't run next to your power wire, are they? That's a nono too.

well. i do have a pioneer head unit and yea the whine increases with my rpms. so just any wire will do? also sadly i did run my rca cables next to the power wire. do they interfere with eachother somehow?

the magnetic field around the power cable will mess with your signal. that's why it's always recommended to run them on opposite sides of the car.

and as said, check ground connection at head unit & amp. sand paint away to shiny metal, put your ground together and then a quick shot of primer will keep it from rusting.

Kicker amps are notorious for engine whine.

I have a bunch of the older DX amps, they have to have super solid grounds, also make sure your amp isn't in a "GROUND LOOP". Kicker amps are easy to ground loop.

do like lucid said and move the power wire away from the rca cabels. ( different sides of the car) Also make sure you clean the paint away from where ever you ground the amp. I would not use a tail light or any other trunk bolt. Try to keep your ground cable the same size as the power cabel and no more than 3 feet long if possible. The shorter the better.

I sorta like my whine. It makes me feel like I have a turbo.

With that said, thanks for the advice everyone.

If you have a Pioneer deck, do this:

When I installed my sub, it had a sound that was like the exhaust was miked up to the sub. It was annoying as fuck. I did what they did in the picture, and now there's no hum at all even with the gain turned up. Pioneer H/U grounding sucks dick, but this quick fix helps immensely.

Now, did you take your deck out just to take a pic of the back??

Hmm never thought of doing that. Could you tie those into a chassis ground? My Pioneer has a separate connector for the RCA outs, which really blows.

Yea people have done that. I was satisfied with just doing what's in the picture though. But for the best sound quality it would be best to have everything (radio, RCAs, amp, car) be tied into very close if not the same grounds. Not really possible though

No but it wouldn't be a big deal for me to do it, my radio is just sitting loose anyway
