ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

    Problems with Noise Pollution?

Has anyone had any issue with noise pollution from the rattle of the car with subs? I have 2 12" Rockford P3's. I also have 2 12" Infinity Reference, would these do better to control the noise? I have not installed any of this yet as it is in my other car, but I would like any opinions/suggestions.

Are there any cheaper alternatives? I have looked into Dynamat before but cost is an issue.

cheaper alternative would be to NOT run a loud system.

        That would be the cheapest.

        Google is also free btw.

Let me rephrase my question. Has anyone had any issue with 12" subs causing excessive rattling?

              EVERYONE with 8's, 10's, 12's, 15's, 18's has issues with rattling.

It's a sub, Its designed to rattle things.

at lowes or your equivalent, they sell these roofing repair membrane sections theres your ghetto dynamat, some complain of an asphalt smell esp. during hot months..spray paint over it problem solved. for inside the panels, first hit it up with some rust converter, then some of that new rubber leak stopper spray paint then some expanding foam..theres also lizard skin which is water soluble and not too bad when bought in a 5 gallon bucket, whatever you can spray it on itll sound deaden (to an extent, think harmonic vibration dampening) and block heat. then theres brown bread if you need cheaper name brand.

I have one 12" in an L port @ 400watts rms I get a little rattle but its not powerful enough to hear the trunk lid slappin. when I move onto 2 12" type-r's @ 3000 rms there will be issues but most will be elevated with what I mentioned above. Remember too that rattles are sound energy being wasted. Dynamat works on the same principle sort of, except it turns sound energy into heat.

Excessive rattles come from things not being properly fastened or attached. While you can change the frequency with deadening material rattling will still occur on problem areas. Things like licencse plates need 4 bolts, bumpers need braces. Non sunroof roofs on the cb7 have no bracing and are very flimsy.

Just put 2 ported 12" punch off a 300w RF amp in an 2012 CTS, the license plate with sound deadening and foam still rattled like hell because it only had 2 bolts holding it.

i usually put that weather strip foam behind the plate and that problem disappears. The plate holders on the cb if not ravaged have two bolts on top and two clips on the bottom you slide the plate into first then bolt it steady. Thanks for the roof info, I was wondering about that. The package tray can also vibrate pretty bad if not tightened down and its loose to begin with. Sometimes Ill hear the trunk torsion spring resonate, but just a little dynamat from the PO on the trunk lid is all I have and dont get many interior noises except for the stuff I know is loose, cause my interior is wrecked atm.. I assume with noise pollution were talking exterior noise, like when a bubble comes down the street and the trunk and panels are slapping louder then the bass..lol

I did not realize that's how the Dynamat worked exactly. Thank you for the info

Canadian Member, this is a Canadian company, so shipping to the U.S. might defeat the purpose of you saving money. But this is cheaper than Dynomat.
I have just over 2 50sq.ft. rolls in my car, & 1 in the basement. My one 10" Kicker L7 slams harder, and sounds way more crisp after sound deadening.
                              http://www.b-quiet.com/index.html
my unfinished doors, mat is also inside on the sheet metal, now when I close it, sounds "solid." Aluminum tape on the seams cleans it up nice.
This is a 50sq.ft roll. its a lot, I over did my trunk lid, trunk floor and wheel wells. double even triple layers in spots. Its always going to rattle somewhere, no matter how hard you try. My roof rack set up went hog wild.
