ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.
2 of 2 < >

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:
http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/forumdisplay.php?f=144
Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

    Junkyard Success Stories

I've heard a lot about people getting quality parts for cheap at Pick 'n Pulls and junkyards. Im about to head out my local Pick 'n Pull in Virginia Beach and am just wondering what success people have had during their times in the junkyard.

(Please include pictures if at all possible)

I've had entirely too many to count. This Sunday I had a chance to go and I found a silver '91 SE. The black leather seats were gone but everything else was still there. The car had a OEM foglights, OEM visors, an OEM hood bra and center arm rest. It also had about every other more common accessory like fender trim, door edge trim, rear mudflaps and a sunroof visor. It would have been a pretty impressive car to see in its heyday. The bra was too brittle so I left it but I got the visors and the foglights. The foglights are my 8th pair to get in the junkyards and I just have them stashed to polish them up eventually.

Also, there's already a pretty popular thread that deals with junkyard finds. So if you have any pictures from when you go just add them to that thread.
My Members' Ride Thread - It's a marathon build, not a sprint. But keep me honest on the update frequency!

I always seem to find goodies that don't fit my car. I would get em and try to resell but they always want too much money for me to make a profit. The other day I couldn't even find something as simple as a inside door handle

This has been my experience as well, though to a bit lesser extent given my region when compared to folks on the coast.

Agreed. Though, door handles are a hot commodity, and folks going for door glass or other door items typically break/discard the handle, so it's wasted.

My best find was rust free quarter panels including complete inner wheel housing, portion of trunk floor, area around tail lights, to the top of C pillar, and rocker section under the rear doors, $100 per side.

              My latest junkyard find...

A buddy went back to get the sidemarkers. The car had a custom sunroof (went all the way back) and a landau top (I've only seen them in a junkyard never on a car on the road lol). The windshield was kinda weird, amber tint at the top.

I've found a bunch of cool shit in the JY. But the best by far was an envelope with $82 in it...

Not a whole lot of bread by any stretch of the imagination but shit, can't beat free money!

Just stating the fact, considering I started the original JY finds thread.

Let's see how many comments we can get about the other junkyard threads in this junkyard thread....

One thing I can never find... early 90s lexus MAFs. They are impossible to find in a junkyard. Every single one is gone before I can get there.

I found my 90-91 fogs in the junkyard. Today I found an F20B in a prelude but most of it was missing.

I wish I could trade my heart for an extra liver, just so I can drink more and care less.

I love pick and pulls we just got a new one in town. I picked up a 94-95 front and rear lip w/ flaps for less than 15 bucks this week. I spent 53 bucks and got tons of goodies. they have about 15 cb7's. I was in heaven.

I've had 4 cars with sliding rag tops......and my 65 t-bird has a landau top. I see them every once in a while on new cars, an most look wierd.

If you want that sliding rag top, unbolt it from the inside, and the bottom frame comes off, and push up. It will come out in one piece. It may be worth $100-$200 depending on shape and size.
