ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

    Jack stands and jack adaptors

I have searched on amazon and ebay for better jack stands bc i hate the ones i have. When i use them, they hit my plastic trim.

If u use the oem jack point, what is the best jack stand to use so jack stands wont hit or rub on my trim?

Do u all place your jack stands somewhere else avoiding the oem jack points? If so, where do u all place ur jack stands

Does anyone have a jack adaptor for their jack to nicely fit the front and rear jack point?

The cradle on my Craftsman 3 ton jack fits the center front and rear jack points just fine. I use a piece of cardboard to prevent damage if I have recently painted the cross member. My jack stands (20+ years old) are relatively flat on top and have no problem contacting the plastic trim when used under the side jack points.

i lift the car via the front crossmember, in the middle, in the rear in the middle is an inverted pyramid looking deal.

I have two old pairs of stands i use i just get them centered up so the stock jack point plate is in the middle of the saddle. usually my lift points max out the floor jack so i get about 2 or 3 clicks out of the stands. if i need to be under the car with room, i have a chunk of 6x6 post i use and ratchet the car up as high as i need it.

for finer cars, theres these polyurethane bumpers for stands

and also inserts for the cup of the floor jack, or an entirely new pad thats lower profile and mostly urethane.

Just as illinois_erik stated, I also just use a piece of wood just to provide something "softer" than the jack itself so it does not damage the side skirt.

ok. now i see why i really don't like my jack stands comparing to the harbor freight jack stands.
from the pic below, my jack stand has that stupid valley where my side jack points sit right in the middle of that stupid valley. lol. ok. i going to go shopping at harbor freight joints

i too use a piece of wood on my jack saddle to not have that metal to metal contact. great minds think alike. thanks for your insight and help.

I'm REALLY curious as to where you're putting your jackstands if they are indeed touching plastic. You should only ever put them on the pinchweld jacking points inboard of the side skirts.

I place my jack stands at the pinch welds like u said inboard of the side skirts. see picture below

because there is that dip on my jack stand adaptor, once the car settles, the forked portion of the adaptor pushes up on the plastic skirt a little. see picture below

That is why i am going to buy better jack stands that do not have that dipped or valley'd portioned on the jack stand adaptor so it wont touch. The pinch weld jack points do rest on the jack stand fork like it should though. I just rather not have the forks pushing up on my skirt. I have dealt with my current jack stands long enough

That is why i asked what others use. I want to know where u all bought ur jack stands (autozone, O'reillys, napa, etc)

oh, gotcha. that makes sense. I got a pair at oreilly and a pair at harbor freight. just look at the design before you buy.

DO NOT PLACE JACK STANDS LIKE THIS ON A CB7.

This is not a frame rail and can not support the weight of the car.

I am referring to where the jack stands are placed, not the circled area. This is the WORST thing that you can do and I have seen the jack stand go through the floor when placed like this. Car landed on the guys face, luckily there was enough room that he only got a black eye and some scrapes (he was a cb7 owner too).

there were a couple occasions where i have used that area to put my jack stands. i had a feeling to stop doing that. i researched on here and found out to not place the jack stands there. nothing happened luckily.

Lucky indeed. I used to do it as well (we all make mistakes). You should see the giant indents in the backseat floor and passenger floor. Raised up a few inches.
