THIS HAS TO BE THE BEST KEPT SECRET!!! I just found out about the 88 prelude 4ws (4 wheel steering and not computer but mechanical link).... man, why didnt I know about these dam things long ago???
When I was in HighSchool a buddy of mine had an 88 but just 2.0si. It wasnt crazy fast but it was a damn go-cart.....ridicilus fun...
Does anyone know someone with one??? I'd love to ride in one or even better drive one....id almost be willing to go to the lude side of the force...
unless the 4ws is just lame....I'd love some input if anyone's ever ridden/owned one

They had Prelude Si 4WS up until 1994 I believe. Maybe it was 93, I forget, but you could definitely get 4WS in the 92-96 generation.

I found out they had them in that generation but I just think the 88 looks great.....I'm not old but I do like the older imports.... I do think the Z looks nice as well as EVERY ACURA but I really like the 92 nsx and the 88 lude and even the 83 944/951. I just love the old school look of 80-90's cars
granted the new NSX is just sex fabricated into a body with wheels

i used to have an 89 Si in japan with AWS. i'd agree with your go-cart statement.

I have a 90 Si Prelude. I have at least 15 friends with Preludes.

3 of them have 4ws.

They are no joke, the most fun car a person can drive...they aint the fastest, but they are indeed faster than Civics, Integras and sorry to say, CB7's.

I remember i was racing an Integra all riced out thinking he's the shit...so we were going at it hard...there was this huge corner at least 1/4 mile long...both were going at perhaps 90ish MPH. He dropped back b/c he couldnt handle the turn whereas i just kept going @ 90mph....SEE YA!!!!!



Another incident where i was in my friends 89 4ws and this Gran Prix comes at us...he blazes by us at nearly 100mph...then a nasty corner comes you see his brake lights where we just zooooooooooooooooooooooooom by his ass at 100ish MPH...i stuck my middle finger out the moonroof and that was that!! lol!!



Road and Track circa 1988 did tests on this car:
Results -

Outhandled Porsches, Ferraris, Lambo's and Corvettes. The closest was the Corvette out ran the 3g Prelude at the Slalom @ 64.5MPH were the Prelude ran it @ 63.5MPH.

I thought the 4ws only worked at low speeds...like no more then 15mph.

Im not trying to start beef.
I am going to tell the truth.
I have purchased and owned these cars:
1998 Civic Dx coupe
1994 Integra Ls
1990 Honda Accord lx
1990 Honda Prelude Si

I have raced all of those cars with my Prelude.
I have won.
Many times.
Believe what you want...Preludes aren't that heavy...it's a sports car, not a family sedan.
My Lude weighs at 2800lbs.
Last time i checked, the Accord weighed the same?


Which motor are you talking about?
I cannot swap in a h22a in my lude, my motor has a 35 degree slant(Gangsta lean) and no one makes mounts...NO ONE.
Fortunate for "us" CB7's, we can swap in h22a's, f22b's...a lot of choices...
So, yes, you are right, a cb7 with an h22 will kill a lot of cars...including a 3g Prelude.

yeah, those have electronic 4ws. Computer monitors the speed of the car and turning radius...so that guy above is right...they turn at certain speeds...

Not best kept secret, just probably not the most widely available model sounds fuuuun to drive though. cb7's do handle pretty good though for what they are.

i have a 91 lude si, wrecked it really bad yesterday...anyways, they are fun cars, and i have beat a few people in races;theyre not as bad as people think.
And to my knowledge 4WS was offerered until discontinuation in Japan. Someone correct if im wrong, but wasnt 4WS designed for people in japan to be able to manuever in small places like parking places, cuz theres so many people?
