I see a lot of CB7 owners removing their interior sound deadening I don't really see that it does much to take away the weight there are other things that can be done to make a greater weight loss why are people doing this?

ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!
Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956
Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)
Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.
These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.
1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.
2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.
3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.
4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.
The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.
The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

interior sound deadening removal

After several decades, the sound deadening underneath becomes rotten and grimey... I just removed the floor liner in my cb9 and the sound deadening was falling apart and looked like junk. For those doing more in depth restorations, it's a good idea to remove it, repair the metal underneath, and replace if need be. I know several race car builders will remove sound deadening through out the whole car, it can remove up to 25-30 pounds.

There is sound dampening on the floor and some of the body. It makes a difference for sound, for sure. I removed mine because, like benxher said mine was already cracked and peeling so no need for it. All it was doing is trapping dirt and making the floor uneven.~Nick~

I removed the metal plate in the sound deadening under the driver's feet because it was rusted all to heck from a water leak. Repaired the leak, removed the deadening and rusted plate, then replaced it a piece of the rubber self adhesive sound deadening (forget the brand) before putting the carpet back down.90 LX 4dr 5 spd 396,014 (sold 1/1/2022) - MRT: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=201450

If I pull the carpet it's worth seeing how much is worth saving on while it's out, because sound deadening is pretty expensive stuff. At least when I've looked up the cost of replacing it all it seems excessive, but I'm also cheap, and old and stubborn, and that makes me want to just pretend I didn't see any problems and just cover it back up and forget about it.
