ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

    over heating any ideas?

well since the past week the temp rises up when im at a red light for a couple minutes and as soon as i start moving again the temp lowers back down to normal temp, my guess that it may be my water pump if you have any ideas let me know thanks

It may "work" but sounds like your fan is not kicking on. you can jump the wires at the fan switch by the thermostat to see if your fans turn on. If they do, it might be the switch that's bad, if they don't it could be a fuse or bad fan motor.

I had problems with my fans not kicking on after I put in the new radiator. Turns out the new radiator is just that much more effecient that they hardly ever run at all.

How are you sure? Your symptoms say fan. The water pump being out would overheat moving as well as sitting. No airflow across the radiator means overheating at rest, but not in motion. No waterpump means overheating, period.

both you guys make sense. the reason i thought it was not the fans was because when it started over heating i opened my hood up and both my fans were on

not necessarily, a stuck shut thermostat can cause the same affects. , but it would overheat while driving as well and get higher in temp when parked.

i'd say if your fan is working, then it would be the thermostat, if the fan isn't working, get that fixed and then see if your overheating continues, if it does, replace the thermostat, if you still overheats, and would be unlikely if it hasn't been changed in forever, then it would be the water pump.

              good luck

i thought fans at first also, but since you said they were both on, i'd then suspect the T-stat also. water pumps are very rare to go bad. later.

My bad, I forgot to mention a stuck t-stat. I haven't had one in my coupe since I got it, and was just complaining about the lack of heat when the car is rolling and it's cold as shit outside, so I should have thought about that as well.

Since both fans were visibly running, Ox has probably pinned it down.

When water pumps go bad, they LEAK. As long as it's turning, it's pumping water. Unless it's an MGB which had a stupid plastic impeller that would melt.

you should also bleed the radiator because the coolant lines might have air inside them and that will cause the engine to overheat. if that doesnt work you should check your temperature sensor. see if that will solve your problem.

Yeah all that. And go head and change your thermo while you at it cuz that shit is easy as hell.

Have you checked the coolant level? low coolant will cause the same problem. I've had that issue, just yesterday as a matter of fact
