ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

Is it when you first start your car in the morning, or after it's been running for a while?

youre heater core or thermostat could be clogged. Check the hoses going into it

The thermostat has nothing to do with the heater core, the heater core always has flow from the engine whether the thermostat is open or closed, so the likely deduction is that your heater core is clogged.

As above 2 posts, more than likely the thermostat, Does the gauge also take along time to rise?

Remember that the air temp will only ever be as warm as the coolant temp.
I.e turning on the heat first thing will make the engine take longer to warm up.

I had a thermostat that was stuck open for who knows how long, and I always had heat, even in 25*F weather, it would still blow nice and hot. Either the knob is broken, the wire connected to the heater core isn't connected, loose, or has too much slack, or the heater core is clogged/bad. A thermostat stuck open won't affect the heat output except in below freezing weathers from my experience.

A couple tests to check the thermostat anyways:

After the car has completely cooled down (say from sitting overnight), remove the radiator cap, if you feel vacuum then your thermostat is closed, and thats normal.

Turn on the car, and wait... feeling the upper and lower radiator hoses. The upper should get nice and toasty, and the lower should stay cold until the thermostat opens up, if your fan kicks on twice and the lower radiator hose is still cold, then your thermostat is stuck closed. If after you turn on the car, both hoses seem to be the same temp all the time, then your thermostat is stuck open. Good Luck, hope this helps!
