ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    main reley?

Why would the main reley go out? I just can't belive Honda would make a part so vital to the car and it has a tendency to fail....WHY! Why do that? Was it because at the time this particular part a inexpensive placement for what they were thinking the year after or was this a recalled part from the start? I just don't understand why Honda would not have made the right part for this function, a crucial part that controls fuel. Can somebody here tell me that it is what it is? I know it is what it is, but I would save alot more money for other things than to worry about a part that supposed to at least out last the cars computer or ECU. Ok may be not but I never had this sort issue with my Ford Probe GT V6. I know for a fact I haven't because I have one sitting right next to the Honda and it starts up right away each and every time I start it up. I'm willing to bet everything that the Ford Probe GT V6 will never have that sort issue because if theres one thing about Fords is that Ford knows not to sell a f--k up fuel part but a f--k up car period.

Putting my 2 cents in alright, anybody have change for a half penny? Ok that didn't make cent.. WTF?

    wow that's a fun post.

yes the relay is a common problem with these cars.

they did not make them bad on purpose.

new ones are $50 and you don't have to think about it again

they can be fixed if you remove ALL of the old solder and apply new
here's how to fix and why they quit working RELAYS!

relays are actually moving things and all moving things will wear out.

I understand what you're saying. It's a silly problem to have but you own the car now so fix it and have fun driving.
Officially "hilarious mad sarcastic"! Thanks CB74christ for the recognition of my work.

No auto manufacturer can ever be perfect, but I know Honda and Toyota came close. Honda made cars with 6 digit odometers years before our domestic cars like ford or chevy did. Thats because they knew the cars would drive that far before retiring.

As for those main relays, mine didn't start to fail until well over 100,000 miles.

Are you seriously crying about a 16-19 year old electronic relay failing? Maybe tuning isn't the hobby for you.

That Probe GT will fail you catastrophically before too long. Just give it time. I've never seen a single one with the mileage I see on Hondas. Come to think of it, I think I've only seen three Probes of any trim level in the last two months. I saw over a dozen cb7s after work alone today. Which one is the better car now?

You make a good point. However, it sounds like the OP agrees with you if you note his final sentence:

if theres one thing about Fords is that Ford knows not to sell a f--k up fuel part but a f--k up car period.
A very funny line and probably true!

I took his last line to sound like Ford could do no wrong.

My main relay started giving me trouble at 190,000 miles.
So $50 and you don't have to worry about it for another 150,000+ miles. In fact, I didn't even replace my main relay, I used to get my head under the dash and blow on it because it would only give me trouble when it was really hot out.
I've never owned a ford but from what I hear, you usually replace A LOT on a Ford by the time it hits 190,000 miles. On an Accord, you only replace oil, brakes, clutch(once), filters, and timing belt.

The solder points tend to go bad. Usually due to excessive heat. It's not a fucked up part. It's a 20 year old part. If you expect every little piece to last longer than 20 years, you will find yourself sorely disappointed. I suppose you'd complain when your tires ONLY get you 40,000 miles too, eh?

mazda made most of the parts for the probe. It was one of the first to have dimming interior lights when you closed the doors. I had a gt also and the distributor failed at 166k....parts are also more expensive than the hondas in most cases. The probe did have one of the largest hatch areas which made it good for stereo competition....

The probe was an ok car. It was supposed to be the new Mustang.
