    turbo on 10.5:1

I'm looking to get atleast 250 whp but I don't want to run more than 10 psi, thats why I was thinking about raising the compression when I build my engine. Any insight would be helpful.

you will hit your goal way before 10psi..

    what engine? f22a? or what?

higher compression will yield more power per psi.. but.. your tuning has to be more precise.. as their is less room for error.. so if your really building.. i hope that forged internals are on that list..

Yes I will be rebuilding my f22a with forged pistons and rods. will I be able to do this on 91 octane they don't have 93 in sacramento ca.

that will hurt how much timing you can run.. thus hurt the advantage of running higher compression... now.. your turbo setup goes hand in hand with the higher compression... you throw a log manifold onto your f22a its defeating the purpose of the higher compression because your exhaust flow is restricted..

your gonna need a decent manifold.. weither a shorty ram or equal length.

heres a setup i tuned a while back

        F22a (210k miles)
        full ebay turbo kit
        50/63ar
        log manifold
        2.5 dp
        2.25 exhaust (s2k muffler)
        dsm 450cc
        11psi

the clutch was slipping thus why we had to do such a higher rpm run.. but theres your goal.. with stock 8:8:1 cr so your higher compression should be promising.

that 91 octane thou.. is gonna suck in every sense of the word...

make your turbo setup flow as much as possible

        3" intercooler piping
        3"dp
        3"exhaust

Will adding octane boost help? Thank you for your help.

I know a guy with a boosted H22 that drives around with a case of octane booster in his trunk.

The only downside is that if you tune it on a full tank of 91 octane and 1 full bottle of octane booster, you're going to need to fill up and add the octane booster every time, or you won't be running a consistent octane level. If it falls below the level at which you tuned it, detonation could occur.

10.5:1 isn't insanely high. We have at least one stock-block JDM H22 boosted on the site now. That's the compression it's running.

You could split the difference... don't raise the compression quite so high, but raise it over the F22A's stock specs. Mid 9s maybe.

I hate octane booster. Hardly works and it fucks up spark plugs.

Agreed..the norm is 9:1 for turbo setups..so why not 9:5:1 or so..

I would rather run 9.5 do you know how much they would cost from bisimoto. They only stock 8.1, 10.5, and 12.5 that's why I was thinking about useing 10.5.

when you run a turbo you usually want to run lower compresson 8.5 or 8. you might gain more hp with higher compression but youll gernade your moter in a short time. if you want to go higher compression id go supercharger over turbo. lower your compression and up your boost itll last longer

I think he understands this... he explained why he wants to go with higher compression in his first post.

i see well with some head work and a msd, intake manifold. I would think 250hp on a stock compression turbo moter is possible. you could almost do it n/a but i could be wrong. sounds right, up your fuel preasure id add a second fuel pump between your fuel filter and fuel rails, add a new fuel rail, bigger injectors, intake, manifold, cam, port and polish, bigger valves, lightend crank pully, lightend cam gear, turbo kit, run it at 10 psi i think you wouldnt have to up your compression you could maybe go even an little lower compression and still hit 250hp. Just dont forget the aluminum radiator and some heat shield wrap for your turbo kit. Id even go with a intercooler, but ive never liked loseing my moter. It isnt cheap if i can do a build without blowing up my moter, id go that route then blow a good moter.so try not to up your compression thats what id do.

I have an daytona. i ran it at 14psi 9.1 compression, and i could run it fine at 86 octane. Just depends on how u tune it
