I have an f22a1 and i'm looking to do a head swap but am not sure exactly what i want. Lately i've been leaning more towards the h23 head becuz my header will bolt right on and it sounds easier and better if i wanna boost it later. However, the h22 does offer vtec which is nice but i know i would have to plug up some holes and it would be higher compression for N/A. What do u guys prefer? And which ecu should i get? whats the overall best setup for a head swap?

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956
Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)
Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.
These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.
1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.
2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.
3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.
4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.
The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.
The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Neither one will give you significant gains. The F22A head actually outflows both of the heads you're looking to replace it with if you do a little porting.
It's been done before, so there's no point in doing it for originality. The gains don't really justify the work, and the increased potential for reliability issues doesn't make it worthwhile in my opinion.
If you want an H series, swap in a full H series... or mod your F22A.

the reason i was going with just the head is because the f22 block is better than the h block (no frm and the f22 doesnt need to be sleeved). the difference is its only 85mm vs 87mm. so i was planning on gettin pistons and roda from h23 and boring to 87mm, puttin the head on and i got a h23, possibly better.2013 Ice Cream Cruise!

You could do either head swap (h22/H23) and have to block off holes/passages, or IF you like you could try to track down a JDM F22B DOHC head.
The JDM DOHC F22B Head bolt EXACTLY up to the F22A block. This I know for a fact. Both headgaskets are identical. (Did this before I stuck my F22A1 head on my JDM F22B DOHC block.)3 CB's gone....
1 WK Overland....
Still miss the CB though......maybe one day.

SOHC VTEC heads flow TERRIBLY. The F22A head that you have now is the best option. All of the F22A heads are the same. Just the camshaft and valvesprings are different on the F22A6 head.
There is nothing wrong with FRM sleeves. People talk like it's a bad thing. FRM is lighter, stronger, and has better cooling properties than the F22's iron sleeves. Depending on what you plan on doing, you'll ALWAYS have to resleeve. If you want a turbo monster, the F22A sleeves aren't going to hold up any better than the H22's FRM sleeves. Mahle Gold Series pistons work just fine with the H22's FRM sleeves.

ok, so if i stick with my head, and switch out its internals, the next decision is the bottom end. i'd like to get pistons, rods, and possibly a crankshaft also. any ideas? i'm thinking wiseco just because some1 gave me a sticker a long time ago and its been on my car forever (ricer-ish i know). not a very good reason to choose internals, but i have little to no knowledge of pistons.2013 Ice Cream Cruise!
