ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.
2 of 2 < >

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:
http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/forumdisplay.php?f=144
Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

All I can think of is that he adjusted your throttle cable so there's less slack in the line giving you quicker throttle response. All my friends used to do it to their cars, however when one of them did it to my accord about 8 yrs ago before the h swap, right after we finished installing my cold air intake on the f22 it screwed things up. He tightened it a little too much and sometimes the rpm's would not drop back down to 800 at idle. They'd stay around 1500, so letting the clutch out could get tricky and it felt like I was taking off faster because you'd get jerked back like when launching at higher rpm's. I loosened it back up to the point where it didn't do that anymore cause it was annoying.

It's not a special "mod" at all and really isn't necessary. The only reason there's adjustment on the throttle cable is cause over time it can stretch. Messing with the tension is probably something you just shouldn't concern yourself with anyway.

As far as being faster, no probly not.

that is a serious safety hazard, man. loosen that throttle cable back up before you run into somebody. you're supposed to have a little bit of play before the pedal actually starts pulling the cable.

It's not a "mod"... he tampered with your idle, and now it's not working correctly. It is causing your engine to work harder than it needs to... in time, this may do damage. Either he tampered with your idle, or he tightened your throttle cable, so it is as if you're pressing the gas pedal slightly when you're not even touching it.

It is not helping your car's performance.

My advice, don't let that friend touch your car ever again.

I'm with most of the other guys, he simply disconnected your cruise control and then tightened the throttle cable. Loosen it up until it lets the car idle where it should and hook the cruise back up, if your not removing it to save weight, you might as well use it.

And tell him to keep his ricer hands off your ride, the next time it might be something really dangerous. Get a book on basic automotive maintenance and a set of hand tools, the only way you can be sure the job is done right is to do it your self.

Please in the future, take a little more care with your wording...I know what you meant but some folks would take offense to that statement. A turbo'd 240 is nothing to laugh at...your friend talking bs about his maybe.

not everyone has much exp. with their cars, knowledge we take for granted is not so common out there.
