Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

    Brake squeak

Please someone help before i light my cb on fire. For a while my front driver side brake squeaks. At first it used to make a loud "clank" noise, Ive since then bought/install all these parts on both sides, cross drill & slotted rotors, wheel bearings (the $80 one not the $40 from autozone and installed at machine shop, also got sanblasted)ceramic brake pads, The clank noise went away but then the squeak came (pretty loud) so i bought brake parts kit (guide pins, rubber boot, screws, caliper has been cleaned, painted and greased) and i still have a freaking squeak its low now but it drives me crazy, especially when i see a fine shorty and i try to slow down to get a good look and all i hear is "SQUEAK SQUEAK SQUEAK SQUEAK" ....Any idea what could be doing this?

Im not sure with calipers i have but i ordered akebono pads (the ones that are at an angle at the ends)

crap, i mispelled "brake" in tittle

It squeaks when you drive or when you're stepping on the brakes?

Ceramic pads are known to squeak. Did you get the little package of squeak reducer from the parts store? That goes a long way to cutting down on the noise. Also make sure that you actually have the right pads on her. Those angles on the edges are nice, but after the pads been worn past that point, they go away.

usually squeaks when i start pressing the breaks or if i hit a pot hole it will squeak while i drive but when it does that ill speed up and hit the brakes hard and it will go away

the pads are pretty much brand new, ive had them on for about 3 months and last weekend when i installed the brake parts kit they still look brand new...c(minimum wear)

The parts store sells this grease called no squeal. You apply them to the back side of each pad. They'll make those squeak go away. It works wonders for me and it only cost $.99 for a little pack.

It's not cool when your wheels are on fire.... I know this from experience, but squeeking could be nearly anything. I'd check the metal backing plate to make sure that's out of the way, use some of that no squeek grease, also check the squeelers on the break pads to make sure one isn't bent and just barely touching something it shouldn't, and make sure your wheels rotate freely.

That's about all you can do. As long as their not binding up your not going to start any fires. lol

I always recommend OEM. Cant go wrong

If u have given up i suggest go get oem from the junk yards.

Also i recommend cheap pads. Why u may ask in shock horror?!

Because cheap ones in my opinion are overall better.

Premium = metalic and are hard or super hard (more likely to squeak, scrape and dig in ruining rotors if not perfectly flat due to being metalic hard).

Cheap = non metalic or semi-metalic (softer and less likely to squeak and ruin rotors. Any imperfection is rubbed off easier and will not score or dig in the rotors as much).
                  Rides:

                  Accord
                  92-JDM-2.0 Si- "4ws" - Cobalt Blue Pearl

Although they are softer than full metalic, dont get fooled to thinkin they will need replacing much earlier.

They will still last you a long time. Guarantee you will still not be replacing them till after a couple of years.

Besides ones you know how to change them, the labour component is so easy its like eating chips (or pie).

                    Note:!!

Get the Cheap range of the respectable and known brands.

I suggest Bendix (which is the Honda OEM supplier).

think ill just slap my old pads, they were still pretty thick but since rotors were rusted and was wavy i though pad might be uneven or something

Please explain how bad rotors will make brakes squeak.

Thank you deev....I about shit my pants on that one.

My input? Sometimes brakes squeel. Sometimes they scream. Sometimes they pout. Sometimes they make absolutely no noise at all...

I owned a 99 Dodge cummins a few years back. Yeah...no way to fix the squeel. It pretty much did what it wanted. I tried everything. What ended up fixing it? I upgraded the entire brake system.

When I say I tried everything, I mean I tried all sorts of different pads and anaerobic adhesives...those gooes you see at autozone and schucks oreilly.

I dunno, try reseating the pads, if you find a fix for that shit, please for the love of GOD share.

Sorry i couldn't be of much more help, just trying to add to the information available with the small amount of info i might have...

Certain pad compounds, especially more aggressive compounds, can be noisy. Adding the anti-squeak paste to the back of the pad will help.

Also be sure your rotors are properly resurfaced before installing your pads, and be sure to follow the manufacturer's instructions on properly breaking in the pads. If you do not do these things, the pads and rotors will become glazed, and will not function well. They will wear faster, the braking ability will be seriously compromised, and the rotors are likely to warp.
