ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

    Strange electric /static problem, help

    Ok guys,
My girlfriend is getting really pissed off. Nearly everytime she goes to shut the passenger door after a trip in the car she gets a mean static shock. This evening the shock was loud, my friend heard it from 20 ft away. I gotta think that maybe something is going on in the door? It doesn't seem like a simple static accumulation on her part. I was thinking about trying to add a ground between the door and the main body of the car but was skeptical that would help. I'm not an electricity genius. Also, i tried to search for this but really wasn't sure how to phrase it, so sorry if this is something that has been covered a million times already.

This used to happen in my wife's civic. I looked into it and from what I read it is caused by the accumulation of static when sliding across the seat, but I am not sure if that is the only reason. From what I read most people recommended a grounding strip that goes from the body and hangs down to the ground.

I've met people with the same problem and blk91coupe's solution was what worked for them. Good luck

you may also want to remove the door panel an make sure you have no stripped wires that are touching bare metal
I know that you believe you understand what you think I said, but I'm not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant.

bummer, i always thought to strips looked so lame. All Canadian cars are required to have them and i used to trash um. I always thought they were rubber, obviously they must have a conductor in them?

Srsly? News to me... I thought that all cars post 91/92 were required DRLs, but have never heard nor been ticketed for a lack of an anti-static strip

Just tell her to touch an earth Before she gets out of the car - the door check strap is a good place.

she doesn't get shocked until she touches earth. She gets out of the car, and then when she shuts the door is when she got shocked. We tried having her hold on to the door as her foot touches the ground and she gets shocked when she touches the ground.
