ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    Speedometer/RPM Fluctuating

Started car on my break at work to run to the bank and saw that my rpms were increasing and decreasing as well my speedometer was fluctuating between 0-20km...and this was all at a stand still. Car drives fine though and no problems. It is a very hot day out...maybe main relay? I also just got an engine tune up by a trusted mechanic.

Any ideas as to what is causing this problem?

*After driving a bit and restarting repeatedly after the occurance the problem has seemed to go away...but I figure if I leave it sit like I did today it will come back*

I don't think its a problem with the main relay.

I would check/clean all your chassis grounds, and check the connections for the cluster if possible, and where applicable apply dialectric grease to the connections.

Until the problem comes back and stays back, it will be hard finding out what the cause is as there is nothing to fix.

I wish you the best and that problem doesn't come back. Good Luck

My mistake for the main relay...work tends to mess up my engine knowledge (the little I have). I was actually thinking that the VSS could be the cause. It was running fine last night when I picked it up and dismorning when it was still cool out...could heat actually effect this small component? I was also thinking it may be loose given a resent tune-up.

A bad VSS will give you a nonresponsive MPH (or KM in your case). A bad distributor would cause your RPM's to fluctuate. Some one else will chime in and correct me if Im wrong.
