ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    Problems after Plug Seal swap.

So I had oil leaking into the top of the spark plugs bad. Burnt my lower plug seals hard and crispy crunchy. So I pulled the valve cover and rocker assembly, replaced the upper/lower seals, valve cover gasket and new spark plugs, and that's it. Went to start the car and idle bounces and almost stalls.

Especially if i take it out for a drive stop at a light and very very close to stall so I had to put it in neutral and rev to like 2k and drop into drive to keep from stalling. Once it warms up really good, it seems ok. Cleaned the Idle valve for the heck of it, no change.

Maybe I over torqued the lifter assembly? Or maybe under torqued it? I don't know what else might have happened. Did I just botch up the timing somehow?

Did you remove the distributor? If so, did you put it back where it was or reset it with a timing gun? Being off a tooth on the cam side is a possibility. Did you check the valve clearances after re-installing the rocker assembly? Are all the plug wires in good shape??

I removed the distributor but it was marked so I know its right where is supposed to be. At least im assuming it is since it was marked.

Would the valve clearances matter since I never messed with them?

Something is up with your spark timing, either the belt is off a tooth or the dizzy is off

yes if your removed the rocker assembly you need to reset the valve clearance

You should have backed off all the valve adjusting screws before loosening the rocker assembly bolts and when reassembling you should have torqued the rocker assembly bolts, then adjusted the valves. The load from the valve springs may prevent the cam holders from seating correctly. I recommend you remove the valve cover, loosen the valve adjusting screws, torque the rocker bolts, then adjust the valves. If you're lucky, you didn't mess anything up.
