ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

High flow ai vs "normal" ai

So, what's the difference between high flow air intake and the "normal" air intake? And does those have any kind of difference if i don't make any kind of air "ramming" to the filter? Basicly i would just put a intake and a filter.

pictures below...don't know if my terms are correct.

And i don't mean the difference between the specific items but generally.

What's the difference in the shape of the high performance filters?

I think your asking the difference between a cold air intake and a short ram intake?

If so there really is no difference. Cold air intakes tend to be located lower in the engine bay so they only pull in cold air as opposed to short air intakes which are located usually near the battery and would pull in hot air from the engine.

Even though both would increase performance, the CAI will only slightly improve over the SRI.

    Nothing you would notice anyway.

And the CAI will hydrolock your motor if you go through big puddles in a rain storm.

Oh and the links posted are only a sri and a 3'' filter.

Filter size doesn't really matter all that much.

Thanks for the reply. But no I didn't mean CAI vs SRI. But if you look closely the other filter has got the top end open and the other one hasn't. So basicly that is what i'm asking. What's the difference with those. And also what's the difference between filter shapes.

CAI affects the upper RPMs more, SRI; the lower RPMs, really not a noticeable difference to the butt dyno though.

A CAI only hydrolocks your motor if you don't have a bypass in it. If you're running a CAI on the street without a bypass in it, you take your chances. But you do have to have the entire filter almost completely submerged in order to suck water into the intake tube. If air can flow into the filter, it'll pull that in before it picks up the water.
