ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

    G22vtec

Does anybody know how to do the G22 vtec swap. F22 block and H22 head ???

    #2
I have never done one so I have no personal experience with a hybrid engine, but from what I hear they are fairly unrealiable and not worth it. Your better off just going with a h22 swap to get the full potential.

I have a friend that has that swap and he has had the same motor boosted and lasted for 2 yrs. It depends on the internals with a well built and tuned motor. I plan on trying that swap also when my current motor decides to die on me. Till then, there are different forums that gives exact detail about the swap, and IMPORT Tuner magazine had full instructions on that build last yr. Happy searching...

        1) The G series is a 5 cylinder engine used in the Vigor. It is not a mix of the H and F series. This stupid "G series" name needs to die.

        2) Such a swap will result in an engine that has low compression and a low redline... the head works best with high compression and a high redline. People say it's good for turbo... but the F22's pistons have very weak ringlands. They will blow. The F22's cylinder walls are made of iron, as opposed to the h22's FRM cylinder walls. The idea that FRM is a bad material is absolutely idiotic. It is more durable than the iron sleeves, and has better cooling properties. The ONLY benefit to iron sleeves is that you have a greater selection of pistons... but doing a cheap-ass budget swap like this RARELY involves proper forged pistons.

        3) The bore size of the cylinders and the combustion chambers are different. Therefore, you will have overlap. Overlap creates sharp edges, which creates hot spots. Hot spots lead to detonation.

In other words, your "G22" swap is absolutely worthless. If you want an H22, get an H22. If you want performance from your F22 block, do some work to the F22 head... when properly modified, the F22 head is actually a better design than the H22 head.

You know, it might not be AS much of an annoyance (though an annoyance it still would be) if there were not a HONDA G series engine already out there.

Everyone wants their ghetto H22... Mostly because some retard, somewhere, started the rumor that FRM sleeves are bad. That very same retard probably made the assumption that if low compression makes for a safer turbo engine, a low compression stock block that's 20 years old must be a good idea!

Wouldn't it be better idea to stick a p&p f22a head with a bisi stage 2 cam on an h22 block?

i still believe that would take too much fab work to get it correct. as it is with the h22 head on the f22 block, there are problems with the ports and the cylinder head would create the overlap.

Ive heard more of guys swapping f22ax heads on f23 blocks from the 6th gens. im not sure how the boring is on those but it might work better.

f23 - f22ax hybrid would be cool. throw some k20 pistons in there with, i think, an h23 crank? do the head work and get the correct timing belt, water pump, etc. would be pretty mean. i think they threw an h series head on one before. bore might be more similar in that case.

I learned something today. I always wondered what the Vigor I-5 was called... Now I know and knowing is half the battle *G.I.JOE*
