ok my engine is getting power without the key in the ignition. we used a test light and taped the engine headers etc.. and it drawing current. remind you there no key in the ignition. so we thinking theres a positive wire from the car thats grounded on the chasis to make whatever you touch have power. so we took out every single fuse from the driver side fuse box and the fuse box under the hood. now that should shut down all the little things under the hood as well as in the car. but the batterys hooked up to the fuse box and we tape the engine block and its still getting juice. we notice the wires on the connecters that connect to the fuse box are loose and have some play in them. can it be a wire touching in the connector? because there are no fuses and the battery is only hooked up to an empty fuse box? the engine block and headers should never have current coming from them because its draning my battery

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)
Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.
These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.
1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.
2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.
3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.
4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.
The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.
The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

The biggest wire from the positive terminal of the battery goes to the starter - without a fuse. Check to make sure it isn't worn through and touching something it shouldn't. Maybe a short through the starter?90 LX 4dr 5 spd 396,014 (sold 1/1/2022) - MRT: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=201450

how much current is it drawing? is it enough to draw down the battery? what drew your attention to this/how did you even notice this was going on in the first place?
Normally the only circuits that are live while the ignition switch is off are the lights (headlights, dome light, signal lights, etc) and probably the horn. I'm not sure if that's relevant in any way but I thought I'd mention it. Well, you took all of those fuses out and still have the problem so it isn't likely that.
But if current is going throught the engine I think the starter is part of the problem. disconnect the positive cable to the starter and see if that stops the electricity flow. If it does, then there's a problem somewhere between the starter positive connection and the engine ground to the battery.
another question is whether the electrical system is bone stock or whether some alterations were made at some point--say, an aftermarket stereo system or something. That could factor in, depending on how the wiring was laid for it.Last edited by batever; 08-29-2010, 02:24 AM.

i notice it happen when i thought my starter died. my car wont start so we took a test light to the engine block and hearders found out that it was getting jucie with no key in the ignition. my battery dies fast. funny thing is we hook a jumper battery to the starter and it turnd so the starter was fine. like i said no fuses the only thing thats hooked up is the battery its grounded and the power wire is connected to the fuse box. so can there be a problem with the fuse box? because we noticed that the wires on the connector is lose. so im thinking they must be touching idk.我愛我的本田

there could be. Only way to tell is to take the fuse box offline and see what happens.
1) disconnect the positive to the fuse box and see if the power flow at the engine is still happening.
and, if that doesn't stop the flow,
2) disconnect the positive cable at the starter and see if the power flow is still happening.
proceed from there.Last edited by batever; 08-29-2010, 02:26 PM.
