    Muffler question

I need a new muffler on my ride, running a little low on funds until the end of January. At my local salvage there is a late model Accord, with a V6 and dual factory mufflers
I think I read somewhere on the site that a person could use a V6 Accord muffler on our cars. I'm looking for quiet and reliable for now, no plans to build a motor or add a quality exhaust system until I get all other issues resolved.
Just a daily driver for now.The price for the muffler is $10.00 Thanks.

    I don't see a question.

Get the muffler, take it to a muffler shop, ask them to install it for you. With the exception of hanger location and inlet size, mufflers are pretty much universal, and those two exceptions can be changed with a welder and some ingenuity.

You wont find a muffler anywhere else for cheaper, might cost a little bit more to throw it on though.

You are correct, I for got to add the question LOL I was just trying to get all of the information included. My question should have been is there room for it to fit in the stock location? I was leaving as the salvage was closing and glanced at a late model accord didn't have the opportunity to measure.
Yes sir, with a welder anything is possible necessity is the mother of invention and my necessity is a cheap muffler

You can fit a pretty big muffler on our cars, so I would almost guarantee it will fit, either way it will have to be welded, any decent welder will make it fit nicely with no problems. Oh and you are just refering to one of the mufflers not both correct?

Yes sir only one muffler. The exhaust had been chopped out but I saw both were still there, I just hope they are not crushed on the bottom or have a holes. If one is messed up, at least I the chance of getting the other!

It's possible that a muffler from a car with dual exhaust may be smaller than our stock single exhaust muffler... so it may be a bit louder. You'd have to measure to be sure, though.

But yes, it will fit just fine. You will have to get it welded on, and if the piping diameter is different, a flange will need to be added. If cost is a factor, you should visit a muffler shop or two and ask them what it's going to run you. The big chain shops will probably give you a set price... a smaller shop might be better to work with the price. OR, if you talk to one of the guys in the shop, he might be able to do a quick job for you off the books (lots of guys do stuff like that... a fair amount of my car work is done by my buddy that works at a dealership, but he does it for a few bucks on his own time, rather than on the dealership's books.)

I'm going back out Saturday, It's LKQ salvage, I think they are a good size chain\franchise salvage outfit. A buddy said they were having 1/2 sale this weekend. They have them 3-4 times a year if that's so I can get it for $5.00 bucks. I was there today getting a power steering pressure hose, I found a almost brand new hose for $7.49 + tax
I will measure things up in the morning, mine appears to be a factory muffler with the twin tips and head out to the salvage.
