ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

    Help with purchasing distributor

Hi guys i have a simple question. I own a 90 cb7 that has an F22a6 in it. I am going to purchase a new dizzy. The dizzy in there went and it is the one with the internal coil. Isn't the F22a6 supposed to have the external coil? So should i stay with the internal coil or , should i purchase the Dizzy that comes with the external coil?

    From memory:

    9293 Had external

37.5 MPG, AC on, cruising at 80.
30.0 MPG, AC on, aggressively driving around 90.
27.5 MPG, no AC, cruising at 90 with occasional gridlock. 40 degrees Fahrenheit

The distributor with an internal coil for the 90-91 is $185.99. Your sure your 1990 has an A6 in it? Anyway, if you were to convert to external, the distributor would be $149.99 and the coil another $73.99 (new of course). I'm sure you would have to alter your wiring harness as well. If your F22 already has an internal coil, I would just stay that route for cost and simplicity sake.

It sounds as if someone did a motor swap and retained the distributor and ECU from the original motor.

Keep it simple, keep it cheap; stay internal.

I've had good luck with eBay special dizzys. Bought 10 or so at 75 a pop. Had one fail, just told the company it failed, got a new one mailed to me free two days later, no questions asked. Asked them if they wanted the old (bad) one back, they said keep it. Can't go wrong.

Distributor King on ebay has a very good reputation.

Anyway, yes... if you have a 90 with an A6, then it was swapped in. The only A6 to come with an internal coil was the one found in the 91 SE. All others were 92-93, and external.

But, since your car is already all wired for internal, just stick with that.
However, are you SURE it's the dizzy, and not just the coil or ignitor?

Sorry, must have went up... Quick check and a company called eportuning sells them fir 107 shipped. Just search f22a distributor. I used to buy them for 75 shipped about two years ago when I ran a Honda mechanic service on Oahu Hawaii. Dizzys on the island are like $300+, and everybody is used it paying that, so after I had to buy one for a customer, I started stocking them. I'd buy them for $75 and sell them for $150, wich was half of what everyone else (napa) sold them for. Always kept one or two around for f and d series motors. Also my bread and butter was "any Honda 4 cyl tb and wp, $350 p&l". I'd do tb, wp, cam and crank seals, bs belt, vc gasket, tube seals, dizzy seal and coolant fill. Parts (eBay gaskets and seals, napa belts and wp) were $150, and I'd do two a day sometimes. Damn I miss that...

Thanks guys. Actually yes its an A^ that was swapped in and it has the internal coil dizzy. The coil went bad and so did the igniter . The problem is that whomever did the swap stripped the coil screws to hell so i figured to just get the entire dizzy to avoid headaches. The junkyards in my area are packed with cb's but all the dizzy are gone so ill just go new on ebay thanks guys

Oye boricua, you need to get them screws out, replace them and hold onto your cash.

Yeah, dizzys are often the first thing to go at a junkyard.

If the screws are stripped, then getting a new one is definitely a good idea. Sucks, but it won't be TOO expensive, and should last for as long as you own the car (unless you're a lifer like me.)
