ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:
http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/forumdisplay.php?f=144
Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

    Idle (high rev)

    its winter so cold start.
anyways my car revs to like 2000 and stays for awhile it will eventually go donw to like 8 or 900
i know to play with the idle control to put it at normal revs when warm but im just wondering why my engine revs to 2000 at first and how to (hopefully) fix it
it also will sometimes flutter after pressing the gas or brake, moving just something

i checked my codes yesterday and i got:

14-IAC (EACV) - idle air control valve
    15-Ignition output signal
    41-Primary oxygen sensor heater

The link doesn't work. But I suggest that you first reset your ECU if haven't done it already. Then check the codes again. If you've got the same codes then just go through the list by testing those components one by one. There should be threads on testing those. Or if you can't find then google.

Edit: Now that i read your post again, I must ask if it idles on 2000 when cold and then drops to 800-900 rpms (engine still cold)? Or did you mean that it idles 2000rpm and after warming up it drops to 800-900rpms?

That's the link he meant to post. He just copied the text, not the link itself... it resulted in an abbreviated broken link.

2step2punCH, keep going. Your post count will be reset in no time.

IIRC, that's operating correctly. The FITV idles your car above normal until it reaches operating temperature.

FITV = Fast Idle Thermal(Thermo/Throttle?) Valve
              MRT
37.5 MPG, AC on, cruising at 80.
30.0 MPG, AC on, aggressively driving around 90.
27.5 MPG, no AC, cruising at 90 with occasional gridlock. 40 degrees Fahrenheit

                Ya ummm thats normal.

It does that to make sure the temperate parts are warmed up and that oil is flowing within the engine....then when it gets to operating temps it drops to 750.

Oh, you're lazy, eh? That's good to know. I'll be sure not to waste my time. I'm impatient, and I don't really care to spoon-feed lazy people. Good luck, my friend! Welcome to cb7tuner.com!

dumb question but whats the IIRC ?
im thinking of takeing the FITV off and cleaning it along with the IACV
i got the plastic piece or wtv in the FITV turned snug havent really driven it to see if it will still flutter the rpms

so the car going to 2000rpms on a cold start is normal ?
                    makes sense lol
i was just wondering cause my dad said that it shouldnt be doing that but i thought it was fine to do that ... just thought i would check just to make sure lol
thanks for all the help everyone

Yeah, thats quite normal. That's why I asked when the rpms drop. I know that it is frustrating when there is something going on with your car and you would like to get it over with. But it is very hard to anyone give you advice or point you on the right direction (over the internet) if you can't give them good explanation of the symptoms you've got. I see that you are quite new on cb7 (i'm not senior either ) Next time try to be a bit more specific! And it's good that you got this "problem" sorted out.
