ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

why is my H22A redlining at 6000rpms?

I just got my h22a swap running but there is one issue, VTEC is engaging but it is redlining at 6000rpms. Does anyone have any idea what could cause this?

    what ecu are you running?

is the car auto or manual?

P13 and its a 5 speed. I have a ac autotechnic vtec controller and I think it may have something to do with it because in my old h22 cb7 the h would rev out at 6k before it was running temp and not hit vtec but now with the vtec controller it will hit vtec even on first start up in the mornings when its still cold. do you think that is some how causing it?

Is your check engine light on?

Personally, I'd remove that VTEC controller. They really don't do anything useful, other than allow you control over something that could potentially damage your engine.

VTEC controller is a pretty big no-no. No reason to do that really. the car with crossover when its safe to do so. forcing VTEC while cold could do some damage, as well as trying to do it with too low oil pressure.

imagine having cylinders 1 and 2 running VTEC and 3 and 4 not... maybe inprobable but still.

H's wont run VTEC while cold or with a CEL code that relates to important sensors. Goes into limp mode, dumps fuel to prevent possible damage to the cylinders and drops redline for the same reason.

the ECU might even be seeing an issue because of the controller and is compensating for it.

I removed the controller and its still doing it and now it wont hit vtec when cold but it does it when its warm and still redlines at 6k, what sensors could cause this to happen?

Vtec DOES NOT ENGAGE WHILE COLD only when warmed up to operating temp. Dont try to engage while cold to prevent damage.

Have you checked you ignition timing and timing belt itself to see if set right

I know it isn't supposed to kick in when cold and I just rebuilt the engine, timed it and put it in the car myself so I know the timing fine. there was what I thought to be a throttle body heater right on the bottom of the throttle body and one of the fittings broke off it so I bypassed it, I really don't know what the component is, could this have anything to do with it?
