ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Rear windows on coupe sealed shut?

I've owned my car for going on three years now and never thought to try and open the small pop out style windows

in the rear of a coupe. so i was back there cleaning one day and i was like hmm.. i wonder if these open so i tried.. and to no avail.

i didn't wanna push so hard that i risked breaking anything. but i was curious about the obstruction so i got out

to take and look.. and it appears the edges of the window were sealed over with some sort of sealant or something. it looks like

caulk lol. Anyone ever heard of something like this? i'm worried if i force it open it will leak afterwards.

possibly the rear windows are not the pop-out type. that might have been an option on the coupes.

don't try pushing them out or open, you will cause a problem

The previous owner seal it for a reason.... maybe broken? If it was my accord... I'll fix it, or replace it. Go to a local pick'n pull junkyard and get a replacement one.

And also, there has only been one previous owner, My great grandmother. who bought it brand new and put 48k

miles on it before giving it to me. so there is a possibility those windows have never ever been opened, maybe they were

sealed at the dealer or something?

Maybe someone sealed it for her because it would have been hard for her to open and close. So they sealed it for security. Or like you said, she got it new and had the dealer have the windows sealed or did they come that way and after you buy it they remove the seal? A factory transportation seal?

Thats kinda along the lines of what i was thinking too, maybe it was just a seal like that for shipping.

I was curious as to whether or not anyone had ever heard of something like this. It kinda makes sense to me though

Doesn't really make sense to me. I mean that is entirely possible but I can't think of any reason to seal them like that.
Before replacing the entire windows maybe try getting a small knife or a razor blade and carefully cut the sealant out.

maybe the rubber just bonded together over the years since they possibly haven't been open since day one? if thats the case you can just the rubber seal from another CB or from the dealership no need to replace the whole window

I don't necessarily plan to replace the window regardless. But i don't think its just bonded together because the seal is a
totally different color. its like a yellow-clear color as opposed to the rest of the rubber ish stuff around the window being black.
