ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

    cooling needs

So I read on an earlier post that a direct replacement alum. radiator (same size as stock). Would not benefit my car's preformance (1992 f22a1 5sp 4dr almost stock) because it might cool too good and the car could run below optemp. I live in the deep southwest and temperatures rise into the triple digit teens alot. I also live about an hour from every friggin thing and there is one helluva mountian range either way I go. I'm talking about a 4th gear balls out barely doing 60 up the top of the pass range. It's safe to say more semi's catch on fire at either the top or the bottom more than it rains a year here. Would a civic aluminium radiator with a say hayden fan to the trick? Does the same rule apply with all fan placement to make sure the fan is at least 1" away from fins to cool the most. Just wondering???????? I have more questions but I'm new and wouldn't want to annoy or take time away from your lives,jobs,families...........

You could have the worlds largest and most efficient radiator on the front of your car, and the temp will not drop below operating temperature thanks to the thermostat. I believe the stock thermostat opens at 180*F.

      You don't say..but are you overheating ??

What does a radiator and fan have to do with PERFORMANCE ? Why would you put a Civic radiator in an Accord ?

Your stock Honda fans with shrouds are better than any aftermarket fans.

The only reason to use aftermarket fans is if you stock Honda fans die and you don't have $15,000 to replace them. Or, you need the room.

People only use Civic radiators when they need room for a turbo. It's not a performance upgrade, it's a functional downgrade.

I would ensure that you have a quality thermostat installed, replace your radiator with a dual-core aluminum one (as said, the thermostat won't let you go below operating temp,) and run some coolant made for extreme conditions. Perhaps some RedLine Water Wetter.

Redline water wetter is an extreme condition coolant additive. Its normaly about one 12oz bottle to 3 to 5 gallons of coolant.

It helps prevent rust and helps with seals and low coolant hige water mixtures in high heat applications.

This sounds like it would be something you can benifit from

I did not say it was an extreme condition coolant. It was an additional suggestion. If the OP takes the 15 seconds necessary to read and see what it does, he will understand that.

If you are needing additives for your cooling system to make it cool better, then your cooling system is not up to par...you are just putting a bandaid on it.

Especially for a standard 4 cylinder motor.
What makes me laugh about forums, is that no matter how much you try to help someone, they dont take the advice. Go ahead and do it the hard way.

You got to respect what you drive, and appreciate what you have, making the best of what you got. and if that means putting CAI, HID's, a phat stereo system, and a idiot in the drivers seat...then so be it!

Then get a dual core half radiator.

so a aftermarket civic aluminum radiator is cool? noone else has tried to fit the obx top mount manifold yet? i saw that there was some issues with the down pipe but not too worried about that
