Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)
Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.
These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.
1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.
2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.
3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.
4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.
The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.
The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

With that hondata ecu, you would also have to take the car to a "Tuner" in order to have it programmed for the use of a bottle (optimally). 100 shot on a stock block h22 (depending upon which one/condition) should get you to 250+ whp.
The thing to think about though is how often do you plan on using the bottle, and do you got the $$$$ to keep it fed, otherwise you might be better thinking about going turbo.
Also wouldn't a stroked h22 just be an h23 bottom end with h22 pistons? Which would lower the redline too, in exchange for some extra low/mid range torque.Last edited by cloudasc; 02-01-2012, 03:39 PM.

No it won't be a "mean ass car", it will be a "non moving ass car".....
Stroker kits require sleeving/reboring of the cylinders. So oversized pistons won't fit, or if they do they'll scar up the lining of the walls. The addition of nitrous doesn't help either if you don't have the fuel system to match. And a Hondata ECU does no good if you never take it to a tuner to be calibrated accordingly. Honestly do you even have the money in the first place? That's easily a $7,000 project. Judging from the way you posted your question in the first place your knowledge of such things is minimal.....
No...It'd just be a poor man's H23A VTEC.Originally posted by cloudascAlso wouldn't a stroked h22 just be an h23 bottom end? Which would lower the redline too, in exchange for some extra low/mid end torque.Last edited by Joey GT-R; 02-01-2012, 03:39 PM.'94 JDM H22A: 178whp 146wtq

Joey GT-R, I like your attitude towards ridiculous questions from the OP, but cloudasc is right. How is the "poor man's H23A VTEC" not built from stroking an H22A? Sure it's not in kit form, but it swaps right in with either using the entire H23A rotating assembly or the H23A parts with H22A pistons. It's necessary to clay the latter if you've done any head milling or if you'll be using cams.My Members' Ride Thread - It's a marathon build, not a sprint. But keep me honest on the update frequency!

Ehh I guess....But from my point of view you're simply re-creating an engine that already comes that way from the factory....Like if I were to do that, I wouldn't say "check out my stroked H22". I'd say, "look at my frank H23A VTEC setup". But maybe it's just me, to each his own.'94 JDM H22A: 178whp 146wtq

Unless the OP was reffering to an 2.4L stroker.
Who said anything about 2.3?
Also Joey if you sleeve the H22 you can run what ever pistons you like . . .
How do you figure that oversize pistons will ruin the sleeve?

I was assuming the worst out of the OP in this case....Thinking he can just buy a stroker kit and just "slap it on" and TA-DA!!!! Meaning trying to "squeeze" 88-89mm forged pistons in the 87mm stock bore FRM sleeves....But I guess who knows but him in the first place?'94 JDM H22A: 178whp 146wtq

Just to confirm, you realise that:Originally posted by Joey GT-R View PostI was assuming the worst out of the OP in this case....Thinking he can just buy a stroker kit and just "slap it on" and TA-DA!!!! To stroke a motor you change the crank and rods.
To rebore a motor you change the pistons . . .

Right, but who in their right mind would stroke a motor without changing the pistons??? I mean you got the thing apart....no way I'm leaving an H22 at 10.0:1(or in my case 11.0:1). Or any motor for that part, at stock C/R.....'94 JDM H22A: 178whp 146wtq

The OP speaks of all this as if it's simple stuff... that's a FULL build we're talking about right there. Anyone who posts a thread like this clearly doesn't have the knowledge to do such a thing... so that would be the first thing to do. Forget opinions on whether or not it will be a "mean ass" engine, and start learning what it would take to actually build it. Then you'll have the knowledge to make that determination on your own.
Or you could just approach an engine builder with your extremely vague idea and let them build you the best approximation.

to stroke a motor you change the crank, rods, and pistons. compression height on the pistons will be different.
just to add a little to that post
