ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    Clicking when I turn right

So recently my car has started a new problem amoung others ,, when I turn my steering wheel to the right (makeing a turn ) it clicks and I can feel
It in the wheel , other directions not, I'm convinced it's my c/v boot which has Ben spewing greese for about a year but I would half expect it to make noise going the other direction, what do bad rack and Pinion sound like?

It's your CV joint. Replace the axle. Once the boot is torn, the axle is toast. You should have replaced that long ago.

Deev is right, replace it asap before you're stranded on the side of a road cause your driveshaft fell apart.

You can get remanned ones for less money, but I suggest you stay away from anything that's not brand new. I tried two remanned CV axles before finally going with a brand new one. The remanned ones both had issues that were not properly adressed when being rebuilt. One clicked as bad as the one I replaced, the other was unbalanced (probably bent). The new one had no issues at all.

            Who's Ben?

It's impossible to say how long it will last. If the boot has been torn for a long time, it may be just about shot. It could last another year, or it could break on you tomorrow. It should be taken care of as soon as possible.

"how long will it last" is definately a hard question to answer. I can tell you that mine was clicking for a couple months, then I auto crossed it a whole summer, and it never gave out. However my boot was not torn, so maybe that helped a bit. Anyway, these outcomes are un-predictable.

I don't know if you have another car, if you do I recommend taking the cv shaft out and down to the parts store with you because there's always a core charge. I find it easier to make one trip rather than two.

He's right but only do so if your going for a remanufactured one. The new ones do not have core fees. Also keep in mind wether or not your car requires the abs or non abs axle.... Yes there is a difference.

If the axle clicks on turns, that's normal.
If it clicks in a straight line, repair it immoderately. You have only a few days.

Also, buying new will sometimes incur a core charge. Usually it's much less.

Same here.. little click on right hand turns since I bought it, boot is still good...

One year and 20k miles later and the new cv is still in my shed... If it ain't broke, I'm not gonna touch it untill I have to, rotors, bearings etc etc.. guess its how you drive.
