ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!
Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956
Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)
Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.
These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.
1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.
2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.
3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.
4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.
The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.
The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

Have you checked your tire pressure?
do you have anything extra in your car that you typically wouldn't?(more unnecessary weight)
had a tune up lately?
are you driving any differently like are you romping your foot down on the gas pedal instead of lightly tapping it like a grandmother.
Things like that may affect your fuel consumption... then again it is still considered winter so you might be pumping at a station using a winter blend of gas.

A vehicle speed sensor is not going to adversely affect your ability to get the same mileage you were once getting out of a tank of gas. Depending on how exactly it's malfunctioning though it could affect your car's ability to perceive the mileage traveled if it's operating intermittently. You haven't really elaborated as to how you've narrowed it to the VSS though. My Members' Ride Thread - It's a marathon build, not a sprint. But keep me honest on the update frequency!

In one way it could effect it, my VSS went out and I lost overdrive. No overdrive equals horrible gas mileage.Originally posted by Jarrett View PostA vehicle speed sensor is not going to adversely affect your ability to get the same mileage you were once getting out of a tank of gas. True story. I sometimes forget how weird automatics can be given that they rely on input from many sources including a TCU.Originally posted by AAPOQ View PostIn one way it could effect it, my VSS went out and I lost overdrive. No overdrive equals horrible gas mileage.
OP, there's an example of how you need to be more clear with your issue. Not only do we not know how to help you with the limited details that you've provided but this thread is hardly valuable to someone who would search for VSS issues in the future. My Members' Ride Thread - It's a marathon build, not a sprint. i might try major tune up see if it works. thanks. weirdest thing, the speedometer needle would jump up and down few times, and finally just drop to 0. and would be fine if i re started the car. these damn cars one sensor goes out and it could be 3 other thing before you find out what it really is. thanks for the input guys

replace the sensor then. They are a dime a dozen at the junkyard. What makes me laugh about forums, is that no matter how much you try to help someone, they dont take the advice. Go ahead and do it the hard way.
You got to respect what you drive, and appreciate what you have, making the best of what you got. and if that means putting CAI, HID's, a phat stereo system, and a idiot in the drivers seat...then so be it!

The VSS supplies a signal to the speedometer, odometer, and cruise control. To verify the VSS is the problem, note if the odometer stops counting when the speedo drops to zero; also try to engage the cruise. If the odometer and cruise work, it is not the VSS, just a problem with the speedometer. If all three don't work, then the VSS is the likely culprit.90 LX 4dr 5 spd 396,014 (sold 1/1/2022) - MRT: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=201450

In all my life, I never thought of diagnosing the sensor that way.
