ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

In the region of Canada where I live most car owners don't even see their car make it past 300K+ KMs. The reason being that our winters are hard and at the first sign of snow the Gov sends the trucks out and covers the road with salt like its unlimited and free. Most cars once they reach 10yrs of age have already started to rust. Which is why most cars end up in the scarp yard at a younger age than owners in the west or south who don't see that type of weather. On the upside used parts are cheap and readily available

I removed the vacuum hose from the EGR Valve awhile ago and plugged it with an old fuse cap. The car ran much better and the CEL light on the dash came on. I didn't know about the Oxygen sensor though I will definitely try that before going ahead with the port cleaning.
Well I guess I know where to find low mileage engines now!

Another interesting thing, is that CEL you get from blocking the vacuum line, if you turn off the ignition, it doesn't store it. Its one of the only codes I know that the ecu doesn't store for whatever reason (at least from personal experience).

Let us know how it goes

      1 mile = 1.6093 kilometer

      345000 kilometer = 214378.922 mile

      Correct me if I'm wrong.

My mistake, I used 2.2 for my calculation, which is what 1 pound = 2.2 kg. , 214k miles isn't that much, should be able to get another 100k miles or more.

Mr CB7, why don't you give the car some love and seee what it does for you.... try buying some seafoam, take the vacuum line off the brake booster and suck the seafoam up in the engine through the vacuum line.... turn it off for 5 minutes after you finish sucking up the seafoam, start it back up and let it run till it quits smoking... it works miracles

I plan on doing a seafoam treatment some time in the future, but I've been told not even seafoam can clean out a clogged port. You have to get in there and scrape it out.

I think you are correct, Mr.CB7. That carbon is caked in the runners and you will be chiseling it out with a screwdriver.

After that you'll want some kind of heavy wire cable. You can put it in a drill chuck and run it up and down the runners.

Then some liquid/spray solvent and a nice bath to complete.

Then, after it's all back together, a nice Seafoam spa treatment.

Hmm I'm kind of thinking whether or not I should go ahead as planned and slide hammer the plugs out or remove the whole manifold as others have suggested. Only thing is I won't be able to do it over the long weekend since I don't have the manifold gasket kit, and none of the parts stores would have it in stock for a 20yr old Honda...

Really? Have you checked? The autoparts store I went to had it in stock. After cleaning my ports, I remember thinking to myself tha there was no way that I could of done nearly as good of a cleaning with the IM with it on the car. It's also like cleaning the crap out of a highly resonated marry jane pipe.

Well I never got around to cleaning the ports last weekend as they forecasted sunny warm weather, but in the end it was a s*&^%y rainy cold day. So maybe this weekend or the next I will find the time. One thing though that I had asked in one of my previous posts but was never answered is when removing the fuel rail, which way is better? Removing the rail and leaving the injectors in place or doing it the way EricTheCarGuy does it and just pry the injectors out of the IM. It would seem by taking all 4 out at the same time there would be a less chance of hitting them and getting contaminants on the tips. Would it be also a good idea to replace the o-rings, cushions and seals when messing around with injectors that have the original seals on them?

                    Thanks

mr cb7 I am now emotionally invested in the performance and tuning of your car and want it to run as well as possible.

Yes, if you remove the injectors, please install new seals and o-rings. You've already done the labor, and the parts are low cost.
