Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

    Oil in spark plug #3

2nd from the left spark plug had a fair amount of oil on the rubber boot and #2&4 had maybe a drop on them...i've had the distributor cap and Valve covers changed...any ideas?

It doesn't sputter or its not sluggish like the plug is dead, it still starts fine...

Possible the spark plug tube seals. Most people don't change these when they buy the valve cover gasket kit.

Make sure you know how to do a valve adjustment because you must remove the rocker assembly to get at the lower seals.

Take your time and follow the manual (haynes or helms). Oh and if you don't have a torque wrench either rent one or buy one. It is a good investment since most components need to be torqued.

There is two sets of o rings. Uppers and lowers. Lower are most likely why you have oil in your spark plug wells.

A Felpro gasket set including uppers and lowers is less than $30. The rest is relatively easy if you follow dhill_cb7's advice. Rent or borrow a torque wrench. Back off all the adjusting screws before removing the rocker assembly, then adjust the valves after properly torquing the retainers when reassembling. This is to the torque applied goes into properly seating the rocker asembly, not so much into compressing valve springs.

Honestly mine was like that for a few months but i barely drove it until i was able to get that fixed because i heard it can cause your engine to misfire and do more damage.

But if you do have oil in there then you should replace all the plugs after you do the uppers and lowers. Then as fleetwood mentioned correctly re torque the rocker and adjust your valves.

Yea it definitely cause a misfire.. Every oil change I have to pull the number 2 and 4 plugs to drain the oil from the tube because it starts misfiring. I really need to change those tube seals soon!

one more question, i changed the lower tube seals and the valve cover the upper tube seals were still pliable and rubber like so i left them alone...followed the DIY, DOES the kind of spark plugs matter?

I had NGK in prior to starting the seal swap and there weren't any that i could see when i bought the new spark plugs but the spark plugs Bosch Platinum +4...the only thing is that i dropped one of the NGK when i removed them, would that effect that plug if i swapped the NGK's back in? after using google to search the site i found the general consensus is NGK or nothing!

To sum up pre seal swap plugs were NGK, dropped one when i took it out, would that plug be faulty if i swapped the NGKs back in over the bosch Platinum +4s?
