ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

I doubt it's the o2 otherwise I'd have a CEL like in it's early years when it had o2 problems.

Is there oil on the side of the motor where the dizzy is? Also, how long do you hold the key before it actually fires?

That is not true man. I have read a few guys on here have had bad o2 sensors and they will not throw the code. So if it looks old and you are not sure if it has been replaced in the last 19+ years i would go ahead and try it. Mine was 29.95 from a local auto warehouse and its a denso as well.

Read my post prior to that one. I was talking to a friend of mine and he said he had the same problem and it turned out to be the coolant temp sensor which was mentioned earlier in the thread. If it is bad it can keep the engine from going closed loop and make it run rich (like i does when warming up) which is why it ran fine cold but missed and ran rich when warm. I unplugged the sensor and it ran great although my CEL was on and my Sports light was flashing lol. I'm heading up to the auto store soon (when I have enough money) to get a new sensor. Thanks for all the help and suggestions everyone, I'll give you a final update when I install the new sensor.

$40 for a new sensor. Still does it. I'm at a a loss. It misses by running rich with it plugged in (both new and old sensors) but doesn't with it unplugged. But then my CEL is on and doesn't want to start in the morning cause it doesn't know it's cold so it doesn't richen the A/F Ratio. Maybe it's my ECU? I can get a another one cheap. It'll be the one from a prelude.

Map sensor. That's my guess. I'm not 100% sure though.

It's a 91 I didn't think they had MAP? Or am I mistaking this for another sensor my car doesn't have? LOL

EDIT: Yep, I had a brain fart. I don't have a MAF. What would a faulty MAP sensor do?

The MAP sensor is inside that black plastic box by the passenger's firewall.

What year CB7, 91 I think you said, then it is OBD I? OBD I codes don't do anything for misfire just emissions control. When was the last time the plugs, wires, and dist cap was serviced for a tune up? Could be very simple fix there!

Literally less than a month ago I got new wires and plugs. My dizzy is less than a year old.

I just don't see how unplugging that coolant temp sensor makes it run fine. How could be anything else?

It's not running fine, most likely it is running rich when you unplug and going into limp mode dumping more fuel and hiding the problem by being inefficient.

But it runs rich when it IS plugged in. I can smell it. With it unplugged it runs leaner because starting when cold is harder and it doesn't smell of gas.

did you get this resolved by any chance?
i dont get any cel light
my cb7 is doing the same thing i suspect the the o2 sensor.

edit i caused a cel so it could run in closed loop mode and it still does it

but it idles and stars up fine as soon as i stomp then pure hesitation

                              Thanks

You may very well feel that it isn't the O2 sensor - but you may still give it a try. I chased after a very similar problem & the car would not throw a code. Mentioned the problem to a friend who had work in a GM garage & he recommended unhooking the O2 sensor & so I did. It did take the miss & nasty stumbling out - as to why it never threw a code is beyond me. Replaced the sensor & the car ran fine with everything hooked up once again.
