ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.
2 of 2 < >

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:
http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/forumdisplay.php?f=144
Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

She doesn't know and nether do i, not sure if "sport mode" is run by the tcu or ecu, if tcu, you should be able to retain it with the a6 i think.

Wait, did a search and found this

    http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=152977

It looks like you are good, keep your stock tcu and tranny where it is just swap the ecu in from the parts car with the motor. (ecu is under the passenger side carpet on the firewall)

Somebody correct me if im wrong but the abs is and independent system, and unless you want to put abs on your 90 cb7, leave it alone.

I am also learning. My first cb was a 93 ex, i had everything already (spoiled) had an a6, rear disc brakes...etc.. But just bought the wife her first cb and its a pos 90 model with 3xx,000 miles

Wife: "Why do you get G power platinum and i only get V power?"
Me:"Cause i have the high compression 93 octane only H22 and you have the bullet proof F22."
    Wife:........................"But yours are prettier"

Just make things simple on yourself, pair the motor out of the 92 with your old trans, wire up the IAB's (really simple to do, 2 wires) then put that motor trans combo in your car and switch out the ecu (which is as simple as unplug the old one and plug in the new one) this would be the cheapest way to do the swap instead of just swapping the head alone.

If at first you don't suceed, then skydiving is not for you.

I try not to down talk anyone, when I read my old questions I realize I was an idiot too.

And then you have an unknown bottom end, and a 20 year old head gasket. Swapping the new head onto a known good block would be reliable...and the head gasket and timing belt would be changed.

        People are so fucking lazy.

Hes not lazy, (well maybe a little) just new to turning wrenches, and apprehensive about it. (rightfully so)

Plus, It seems he might actually be the guy that listens and starts doing his own work!!! (which would make him a rare new member)

Yes, I believe hes saying go for the head swap

But even after everything everybody said on this thread, listen to deev, he lives and breathes this chassis and corresponding motors and i bow to his superior knowledge. Not kissing ass or anything, its just the logical answer. If he says its what you should do, then do it.

Although, the motor swap in its entirety would be easier for you as a new mechanic, deevs answer will result in the best possible outcome. I.E. long term reliability.

Hell, in my past whenever Ive had an F motor go bad, i just go to Craigslist and get one for 2-300 dollars and drop it in. But that's just cause im busy and can do the swap faster.

That's what I've said from the beginning. Use the 92's intake manifold and ECU, and you'll have a perfectly good engine making more power than the one you had before.
Basically, you have the opportunity to repair your engine properly AND gain power with no compromises. That's a rare thing when it comes to cars.

me and the wife should have heeded that instead of talking about learning to do it yourself so he can save thousands of dollars in his lifetime and making post to help him figure out how to do it.... Ill stop wasting my time. What happened to logic in this world? Everyone is capable of learning, instead why not just flush money down the toilet?

First off i never said I was going to do the swapping NOR did i say i was trying to save money... I just want to make sure my car gets fixed right. The guy who was going to be fixing my car was going to swap the heads and cam and nothing else and thanks to the other guy i now know he has to swap other parts.. i printed that off and gave it to him..

He CAN just swap the head and use your old cam... and it will be exactly like your old engine. The extra parts (intake manifold and ECU) along with the 92's cam, will give you extra power... not to mention less things to take apart. The fewer moving parts you remove, the lower the chances of something screwing up... even when a pro is doing the work. I've had Honda master technicians screw things up on my car (thankfully, only minor things... but even the best ones are only human!)
